I’m happy enough with CLOTH OF STARS, but I’m going to add a pretty speculative one, who
might just steal a place, in ONE FOOT IN HEAVEN at 100/1. He went into
this last year, having lost his way a bit with 2 poor runs, the latter of which was last of
4 in the Prix Foy, and after completely missing the break and being last for most of the race
he ran on well for 6th. Prior to those 2 poor runs, he had won 3 on the bounce, including one
over c/d on soft. He picked up another c/d Group 2 win, again on the soft, directly after the Arc.
He has been out injured after his run in the Jockey Club Stakes at Newmarket in May (2nd on g/f
behind SEVENTH HEAVEN, after getting unbalanced running downhill) but showed a bit of promise in
his return race at Maisons-Laffitte a couple of weeks back, a running on 2nd over 10f on very soft
ground. He would have needed that, and hopefully will come on upped to his best distance of 12f.
Should he beat Enable, Order Of St George or Winter?…….absolutely not, but there are question
marks about ground/trip for 2 of those, and the Arc can be a pretty rough race. If ONE FOOT IN HEAVEN
is back to his best, with conditions to suit, over a c/d he clearly likes having won twice, he’s not
without hope of improving on last year’s 6th and sneaking a place. He’s available at 100/1, but I think
the 80/1 with Sky and 5 places is a better bet. He’s most certainly not one to hang your hat on, but
at that price he doesn’t have to hurt your pocket either.
Good luck all
October 1, 2017 at 10:02 #1319587Hello – I am new here!
I am excited about the racing at Chantilly today. It is great that STV racing are covering the meeting.
I would like to see Cloth of Stars go well in this. He should be fresh and could get a place, if not win.
Welcome Archipenko. It should be a great meeting, and as plunger just mentioned there are a good
few in here, myself included, who think CLOTH OF STARS is decent value at a big price. I hope your first
bet in here is a winning one and you have many more
October 1, 2017 at 10:54 #1319597Enable will trounce them
October 1, 2017 at 10:56 #1319599Welcome, Archipenko.
The puzzle for me, aside from finding the winner, is how The Lads will deploy their weapons in an effort to disadvantage Enable. They have 3 runners drawn fairly close (7,8,9) to Enable and Ulysses, another danger. But Frankie is certain to jump out very smartly and take an early position on the inside rail before switching right across the track (if I am reading the draw correctly) to get into the front three or four after the first bend.
There looks to be a huge amount of room at Chantilly and the home straight is 3 furlongs. They’re sure to go fast early in the hope of dealing with doubtful stayers like Ulysses and that should mean plenty of gaps from the 2 furlong marker. If Enable is on song she ought to win given what looks like a massively unbalanced weight concession from most of the field.
I know the weight for age debate comes up from time to time as does the gender allowance when a particularly good filly or mare comes along. Is it enough just to shrug shoulders and say the likes of Enable are outliers, or should some sort of filter be adopted to dilute the allowances?
In cases like this, the ratings system bumps into the gender/WFA system and shows that one or the other isn’t working. A debate for a separate thread I suppose. Good luck to everyone involved today.
October 1, 2017 at 12:48 #1319620I hope Enable wins but not for me at that price. You don’t see me backing many favs!! LOL
I have backed ZARAK 33/1 and DOHA DREAM 150/1 in the hope that one of them gets in the four!!
October 1, 2017 at 14:11 #1319639Added a couple of longshots in Plumatic and Seventh Heaven
October 1, 2017 at 14:17 #1319641Christ, Sotono Diamond has hit 50/1. And to think I masterfully took 10s.
October 1, 2017 at 14:44 #1319644Lays in play
Ulysses £50 @ 4.0
Capri £30 @ 18.0
£10 @ 11.0Cloth of Stars £30 @ 18.0

October 1, 2017 at 14:56 #1319647Good luck all hope it’s a cracker
October 1, 2017 at 15:13 #1319651Looks like she could go round again! What a smashing filly. Think Frankie be doing a double somersault flying dismount
October 1, 2017 at 15:14 #1319652Happy to be proven wrong, Dettori got the tactics spot on – surprised they didn’t go a stronger gallop but when she quickened she put a couple of lengths into the field like only a great horse can.
Question now is, will she stay in training next year?
October 1, 2017 at 15:15 #1319653Special filly.
October 1, 2017 at 15:16 #1319654You see now why they didn’t bother running cracksman.
October 1, 2017 at 15:16 #1319655WOW….Superstar
Well done Frankie a magnificent ride and Enable different class in this..brilliant.Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...October 1, 2017 at 15:18 #1319656She is a superstar

Delighted with CLOTH OF STARS, I wish he could have seen daylight a bit
earlier, but I think Enable could have brought out more and won in any case.
The race lived up to the hype
October 1, 2017 at 15:22 #1319657Really pleased with Cloth of Stars – wonder if he will train on next year.
October 1, 2017 at 15:23 #1319659Never in doubt once they turned in. No Cracksman because he couldn’t have beaten her and they knew it – that simple.
