    I wonder how the French would price this up! Ludicrous.

    Gigginstown run 14 horses and jack Kennedy doesn’t ride any of them, but instead rides bless the wings, who came second last year. That’s a massive pointer

    Good decision from Jack I reckon.
    Absolute scenes if none of the Gigginstown contingent even place.

    Poor Des Scahill is going to have a torrid time of it, he already finds it difficult enough as it is..

    You’re sitting nicely with Fletchers Flyer VtC, best of luck!

    I nominate First Lieutenant for an involuntary Robert the Bruce award. Hasn’t won for 4 years, rated 31lb below his best and received 12lb and a 30 length beating from Foxrock in a hunter chase earlier this season. It would be the training performance of the century if Mouse could get the poor bugger to win.

    Cheers Voleur, very happy to have the 32’s, and though I plan to lay off a bit more, I’ll still be in a nice position on him.

    Certainly going to be ahead on the race, whatever happens.

    Agree with Wex, and have added Bless The Wings too.

    Bless The Wings 20’s EW 6 Places
    Fletchers Flyer 32’s Laid 8’s
    General Principle 40’s EW 5 Places

    Got three for this.

    Tiger Roll is obviously one of them, for reasons I’ve outlined above.

    General Principle is another, looks like the sort of horse who’s been trained for this. Cooper rides which, considering how many Gigginstown/Elliott horses there are, might be a bit of a clue.

    Bonny Kate fits every single trend that you could care to mention, so she’s in as well.

    Good luck to everyone, may they all come home safe and sound.

    So don't run, just like the others always do

    This was always gonna be a ‘play the night before’ race for me and I’ve gone for Tiger Roll at 14s and Foxrock at 20s

    That’ll do

    I’ve added Foxrock E/W at 20s too so that’s him and Haymount for me. Good luck in running all.

    I see there are quite a few FOXROCK fanciers like me. I mentioned a while back that
    I thought he was a Grand National horse, and I’d think about having a punt before
    the Irish National as I think he’ll go well in that. Barry Connell (owner) stated
    a while back that the intention was the Irish this year and the National next.
    As he still hasn’t been priced up by firms, I contacted a few on chat (Bet Victor,
    Paddy Power, William Hill, Bet365, Boylesports, and Betfred…..I gave up trying to
    get through to Sky). Most wouldn’t price up before today’s race, only two, Willie
    Hill and Paddy Power said they would contact me by email with a price. Still
    waiting on PP, but Willie Hill were sharpish back to me with this……

    Hi Graham,

    Thank you for your email and sorry for the delay.

    I am writing further to your previous contact regarding odds for Foxrock for next year’s Grand Nationals. This has been checked by our Trading Team and the price quoted was 50/1.

    Should you wish to place your bet now, We can have it placed for you via phone on these numbers: 0800 31 88 44 (UK) or +800 3551 3551 (International).

    So anyone thinking of chancing him for next year, and hoping he runs well today,
    that seems to be the best (or only) offer on the table at this time. If PP get
    back to me this morning with a better offer I’ll post it. If not I’ll chance
    the 50/1 with WH. Here’s hoping he puts in a good display today :good:

    I fancy Our Duke and Noble Endeavor here for the win, while at bigger prices Bonny Kate and Sambremont.

    Hi all

    The Irish Grand National is a TOTALLY icon event and merits close scrutiny… Having read the Ten Year Trends piece on the RP website they reckon on the following criteria.

    AGE= 7-11
    WGT= <11st
    SP= >15/1
    Chs= >8
    3m= YES (winner)

    Conclusion= Tiger Roll, Wounded Warrior and Bonny Kate.
    (but as usual they then stray into “form studying” pastures and go for sumat else)

    Going to do my own analysis AND hopefully learn from my mistakes.
    My initial thought is “the winner rarely satisfies all the Trend markers”.
    Create a Trends “hit parade” is another idea. The winner should come from the top six and certainly “never” from the bottom six.

    ……………………………………………………………………………
    Personally i have got it down to 5 contenders.

    1. Foxrock (may be best on Soft, but i like the Roselier breeding angle)
    2. General Principle (Brian Copper’s pick of 14! GTstud runners)
    3. Bless The Wings (CD 2nd in this last year, ran a cracker at Cheltenham)
    4. Minella Foru (Barry Geraghty riding for the mighty JP McManus)
    5. Haymount (Ruby Walsh touched-off last year out4REVENGE, W Mullins trains)

    My bets
    Bless The Wings EW at 14/1
    General Prinple EW at 20/1
    Haymount EW at 10/1
    skybet 6 places 1/5 odds BOG

    D21 B-)

    I wouldn’t be backing general principle just because cooper picked it. He has shown time and time again that he is woeful at picking the right horse in big field handicaps. Last two Irish grand nationals, galway plate, Munster nationals, Aintree nationals, etc

    Gone for a couple dour stayers in Bless The Wings and Raz De Maree and taking a punt on Stellar Notion. Might add Bonny Kate if the price is juicy enough…

    Fair comment hewexfordman, about Brian Cooper.

    General Principle fits most of the Trends, with Course form, won he’s
    last two races and is progressing for the increase in trip.

    (oh yeah… and i had a dream :yahoo: )

    Arbre, Bless the Wings, Oscar Knight, First Lt and Bonny Kate; however I do want Abolitionist to win for the new lady trainer.
