Almost relieved about that as jockey booking put me off although really fancied the horse. Irish Roe for me, too, after speaking to the sister of the guy who now stands Vinnie Roe at his stud the day after I didn’t back Irish Roe when it won. I do like Fayonagh as well, even though I keep thinking of Fiona in Shrek whenever I see the name.

Carter Mckay 5/1 and Cause Toujours 8/1 look some way above the rest of these.

Decided to do Fayonagh 11/1 too.

Get out of jail free card. :yahoo:

Spare a thought for the little guy knocking his pan in and getting kicked in the balls here.

I thought Debuchet travelled like a winner all the way and then got shafted by an incredible finish.

I had Divin Bere beaten by a 33/1 shot earlier by a neck and was second in a photo yesterday.

Still, Carter Mackay and then Cause Tojours at his silly odds were another two lays. Only Buveur D’air has won of the reasonably numerous lays so far and Might Bite was welcome relief. It could all have been a lot better though.

I wonder if the jockey on Debuchet would have held on to him longer in retrospect. Anyway he outran an fair few overblown contenders and you feel a bit sorry for the smaller stable getting kicked in the teeth. Gordon Elliott has already been packing it up the Mullins pooper, no need to be greedy about it.

Where is Willie Mullins, where is Paul Nicholls? “Championez, Championez, nowt today, nowt today, nowt today” is becoming the mantra.

Well done to Fayonagh backers, I think it’s stretching it a bit to suggest the jockey judged that well but she finished strongly today.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

I’m not sure about that; he obviously knew she had a mighty kick of speed in her. Can anyone remember what he said about her in that preview? Just watched the race for the first time. Amazing.

Time will tell but I never trust comments from Jockeys to be honest.

Gordon Elliott said after the race:-

“I was worried about the ground”

J J Codd said after the race:-

“The ground was perfect for her”

That doesn’t seem to add up.

Jo O’Brien said at a preview night that Elliots have been dominating the bumpers in Ireland all year, so if he only relies on one runner, that’s a tip in itself surely?

as usual did not take my own advice…

My hot take on the race is to view it as a fairly poor renewal. Many of the market leaders had already looked slow in previous runs and the well-ridden winner was best-placed as the strong early pace collapsed.

Western Ryder was mildly encouraging just outside the places but doesn’t need many excuses as one of the most experienced and battle-hardened in the field. It was all a bit laboured from him throughout but he did overcome some bumping and stayed on fairly well under pressure.

Couldn’t connections have been “worried aout the ground” beforehand…
Yet those “worries” were not fulfiled after the race and in fact “The ground was perfect for her”?

    Just a thought.
