I quite like the look of SPECULATIVE BID at 16/1. He missed the
whole of last year, but came back 2 weeks back with a very decent 7th in the Challenge
Cup here at Ascot over 7f. He was held up, and came through nicely for 7th without
being given a particularly hard time by Sean Levey. There’s always the chance of the
dreaded “bounce” after such a lay off, but he’s got very decent form here having won
the Victoria Cup back in 2015. I’m taking it that the fairly “gentle” run he got here
2 weeks back was as a prep for this. I like the look of the booking of Jim Crowley,
and I think the 16s on offer is too big.

I’m also having an e/w on EDDYSTONE ROCK who’s 40/1 at present, but
I’m going to watch the early market to see if someone pushes him out to 50s.
He had been out of form for some time, but bounced back to win in a decent handicap
at York in August. He’s run twice since, and 7th in the Dubai Duty free H’cap at
Newbury, and 11th in the Cambridgeshire last month don’t on the face of it look
very promising, but he was held up right out the back in both, and made steady
headway at the finish in both without threatening. He’s won on soft, and I think
anything that can’t go on that will have little chance today. 40/1, and hopefully
a bit bigger in the morning, is not without hope :good:

I backed Speculative Bid @ 16’s for the same reasons as BigG above.

    NRNB with Bet365 MOM

As Century Dream is a reserve only and not in the race, I’ve thrown Zabeel Prince in a multiple at 10/3

I don’t like backing short priced horses I’m competitive handicaps like this but I think this is a high class horse who will be winning group races next season.

I really like The Grape Escape here and he’s my win bet at 10/1. I’ve also backed a couple each-way and they are Oh This Is Us 18/1 (5 places) and Hors De Combat 33/1 (6 places). Both have good form in Group company and shouldn’t find conditions anything to worry about. If they’re primed and ready to go they are more than capable.

Finally added Hors De Combat here, took the 33’s EW 6 Places, and a wee bit on the nose at 50’s.

Multiple didn’t really work with a leg to go

Linguistic as a single at 16s will do to get out unscathed from today

Cheers judge, but from a low draw, im astounded where he positioned him, yes he needed to be held up, but stone last 2f out? The horse lost lto because of that

Nice one, ham and anyone else who backed him. Don’t know what he traded at but a proper group horse to win from there.

Was my 2nd biggest bet of The Flat Season Ham, so bloody close, happy obviously with the place money, but the win would have been very nice  still can’t bring myself to watch it back.
