    Entries out for this……

    http://www.racingpost.com/horses2/cards/card.sd?race_id=662158&r_date=2016-12-03#raceTabs=lc_

Not a race I’ve had much joy in, with Little Josh being my only winner as far as I remember.

Still like to have a go though, and I’ve bet a couple of them, both horses I’ve tended to follow over a cliff.

Seefood – If he was mine, I’m not sure he’d be going near these fences, but he was bought last year with The National in mind, and a win here might be the best way to get a win under his belt to get him there, as he’s way short of the mark required at the moment. He was decent as a hurdler, in fact I thought he’d end up better, but having looked as if he was regressing for a while, the switch to Dr Newlands yard has seen some shoots of recovery. Tidy enough winner last time, and though he could easily be an early casualty, the ability is there if he stands up.

Vintage Vinnie – Up in the front rank in The BetVictor, until 3 out, when he emptied quickly, taking a few quid of mine with him. He did start the season well though, and I’m happy to keep him on side at 25’s. Very much like Seefood, he might be a bit scary round there, but if he can stay on his feet, he could nick a place, and was happy with the 25’s.

Given that they both have doubts over their jumping, they won’t be my biggest bets of the season, and I was more tempted by the prices. If I do have a bigger bet in this race, it’ll be once the final decs are known, though if nothing jumps off the page, I might just leave it be.

As De Mee is certainly an interesting runner at 12’s, while the likes of Bennys Mist, Seventh Sky, and Ruben Cotter are all safe enough conveyances around here. Slight issue with the latter two holding an entry in The Becher, but Ruben does look big at 20’s, as does Rathlin at the 16’s. Rathlin was poor the last time, but I’m willing to forgive him his unseat in this years Topham, and he looks the type who could bounce back here.

Doesn’t look the strongest renewal, and certainly not one to go mad in, so I’ll happily stick with Seefood 16’s and Vintage Vinnie 25’s for now.

Staying loyal to my old mate Bennys Mist. As you say he’s always a pretty safe bet round this course.

I’d waited years to see Astracad tackle these fences and I’m willing to forgive his performance in the Topham where conditions didn’t suit. He hasn’t gone up too much for his victory at Cheltenham and I’m very tempted to have a good go with him. Only apprehension is he’s been entered so many times but taken out late, so might wait until he is officially declared. His trainer knows a thing or two about sending a winner here.

Vintage Vinnie and Troika Steps also garner interest should they line up…

Peter, I’ve bet Astracad so many times over the years, I think I have a share in him. Missed him the last time as he was too short for me, but at least you’ll know he’s in good form, though I’m just worried that that’s him had his win for the year lol.

Valadom in this @ 12-1. He’s pretty certain to line up, in some places he’s only 8-1. A cheeky little £20 win double on Valadom in the Sefton and Viconte Du Noyer @ 12-1 in the Beecher, pays £3,380. Merry Christmas in November. :rose:

I have backed two in this Le Vaticane at 10/1 and Beeves at 25/1.

I think this may have been Le Vaticane’s target since April!!

And Beeves looks like he may have been got ready for this race. I hope he runs in this and not the Becher!!

    :good: :good:

Beeves runs in the Becher so had to back another one and plumped for ASTRACAD who certainly has his own ideas about the game but is a big enough price to be worth a gamble!

Have just taken 50s Rouge Et Blanc who has some experience here and has twice won off a longish break and with lousy form figures

One of the advantages of living close to the Irish Sea is that if As De Mee wins it will take me just two minutes to go and jump in it

As De Mee came out 10 lengths clear on my interpretation! Also considered Henryville e/w but his hold up style in the conditions will probably preclude him winning.

As De Mee is well handicapped, but has a poor win/run ratio. La Vaticane doesn’t seem very moral either. Echo GM about Henryville, will need them to fold in front. Rebecca doesn’t seem in as good form so Vintage Vinnie is kicked in to touch. Astracad seems to reserve his best for Cheltenham. One I’ll be keeping an eye out for in the market is Rouge Et Blanc, can see why Joe likes him at a big price; but has has physical issues. Might go in if beginning to shorten.

My three main bets are: Valadom, Seefood and Troika Steppes.
Saved on Bennys Mist and Seventh Sky.
Latter pair would’ve been main bets but not sure it’ll be soft enough for the one/two from last year. Both genuine and good jumpers so couldn’t leave them out. Jumping might be Seefood’s downfall, but has everything else going for him, going, distance, improving, in form and stable in good form too. If Valadom or Troika Steppes get free on the front end could take some catching on that ground. Hopefully they won’t take each other on. Prefer prominent runners on this course.

Agree with a lot you say Ginger. Poor run last time by Vintage Vinnie too and Astracad needs genuine Good. Not the strongest Class 2 but worry about Class for Seefood & Troika Steppes, also the latter’s jumping too and Troika may need more of a test/further as may Valadom!
