Mullins just said ‘must be on the cards’ regards AP for this

February 17, 2016 at 14:01 #1234016Mullins on ATR said injury similar to what kept The Fly out of the Champion several years ago and they caught it as they were just bringing him back into work – went on to say he hasn’t yet spokent to Ricci but agreed that AP now in the mix for being supplemented, she looked very keen today and a drop in trip shouldn’t be an issue
February 17, 2016 at 15:19 #1234037I think it would be good for the sport if Annie Power’s ability was tested again outside of the Mares race. They were describing her as a chaser a couple of years ago. Maybe they schooled her and it didn’t go well but i think the Champion Hurdle would be more interesting with her in it than Faugheen.
The Champion is one of two races i haven’t placed in multiples – the Gold Cup is the other.
February 17, 2016 at 15:25 #1234038I can’t see ricci running Annie Power in this. He already has Sempre Medici running. If Annie runs in this then he would have two in the champion hurdle but that would mean there will be no ricci horse in one of the mares hurdle or the world hurdle. I can’t see that happening. Arctic fire for me
February 17, 2016 at 19:54 #1234082Interview up on Willies site.
Sounded as close as you get to Willie committing. Annie to the champion hurdle vroum vroum to the mares.
Also found this quote very interesting “i’d rather run her in the champion hurdle than the world hurdle.”

Interesting interview. My take on it is that she will go to the CH unless something happens with Thistlecrack – that’s just reading, perhaps incorrectly, between the lines.
February 17, 2016 at 20:22 #1234087You’re spot on Joe, IMO although Willie can keep his targets quiet until close to the festival, when he does open his mouth he very rarely misleads punters.
February 18, 2016 at 18:53 #1234206How Annie Power works in the next four weeks will be the deal breaker, the fact her last two seasons including this one haven’t gone to plan because she has picked up minor injuries that have kept her out has to be in the back of their mind when making the decision.
Faugheen was most likely to make the running, but with him out I think Nichols Canyon will take it up.
Hypothetical: Say Annie Power wins the champion hurdle and Faugheen comes back to full health next season, would Willie/Ricci let Annie Power defend her crown against Faugheen in 2017?
February 21, 2016 at 19:40 #1234702Maybe I am missing something but I just cannot see The New One being out of the first three. He is as good as ever and people crabbed his beating of Rayvin Black which now looks good after yesterdays win.
It is not a strong Champion Hurdle, Arctc Fire does not seem as good as last year, I don’t like Identity Thief, Nicholls Canyon well after bombing last time I couldn’t have him and the Henderson ones seem much of a muchness.
This could be the bet of the year for me.February 21, 2016 at 21:03 #1234703Maybe I am missing something but I just cannot see The New One being out of the first three. He is as good as ever and people crabbed his beating of Rayvin Black which now looks good after yesterdays win.

This could be the bet of the year for me.I think you are missing something. The field rayvin black beat the other day was awful. The New One struggled to beat rayvin black. Through a form line with Rayvin black then TNO is only two lengths better than connetable. And you can’t seriously suggest that horses operating at that level are good enough to be placed in a champion hurdle? They are all grade two class at a stretch. Rayvin black has beaten nothing and the New One struggled to beat Rayvin Black.
February 21, 2016 at 21:28 #1234704With my logic; Anniepower is proven over the WH distance, finishing 2nd to More of That. Must be her best performance or at least one of the two?
Nichols Canyon’s, only 6 years of age, form is improving over the 2 mile trip, his latest conqueror and former favourite, is out of the race. He goes for the ChampH?
Same trainer, different owners, now they can both win and I hope Anniepower goes one better in the World Hurdle for my pennies of fun.Best Wishes
SilkFebruary 21, 2016 at 21:53 #1234706If he turns up don’t rule out Peace And Co. His run last time, whilst disappointing, was significantly better than his first run of the season and whilst Henderson’s horses have been somewhat hit and miss you watch them fire at Cheltenham.
The Champion Hurdle will surely be run at a good gallop and that will help Peace And Co settle. It would be no surprise to see him coming from off that gallop and powering up the hill. He is the one horse with the potential still as we still haven’t seen him reach the ceiling of his ability.
20/1 is a fantastic price.
February 21, 2016 at 21:55 #1234708Yes the last run again being a small field he would have been better off in the betfair hurdle.
The Champion could end up being a smallish size turn out but you would second guess it being run hard.Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
February 21, 2016 at 22:30 #1234715I still think Hargam should not be forgotten .
Only 3/4 of a length behind The New One last time out and blew up both other runs. The New One 8/1 Hargam 25/1 Go figure !!

Couldn’t agree more IBR, things haven’t quite worked out for PEACE & CO of
late, but I doubt he has become a bad horse. When you look back to last year,
his wins in the Triumph Hurdle trial and then the Triumph Hurdle make him look
tailor made for this, especially with Faugheen absent.Nicky has had a few bad patches with his horses, but I wouldn’t mind putting
a few quid on him having them spot on come The Festival.20/1 NRNB with Paddy Power and Stan James looks too good to turn down, I’m in

It would be no surprise to me to see one of them, probably Top Notch, become a sacrificial lamb to aid Peace And Co’s chances. Send Top Notch (who won’t win anyway) to the front to ensure one hell of a gallop, get Peace And Co to settle and you set the race up perfectly.
February 22, 2016 at 14:32 #1234772Faugheen being out cost me a pretty penny and I was initially gutted that lots of my accas were up in smoke, but the more I think about it (and reading through the conversations on here), I am now catapulted back into the excited bracket, because whatever the outcome, we have a great race to look forward to, other than what would have been a forgone conclusion (if there is such a thing at Cheltenham).
Now Faugheen is out I think a lot of people will be piling into the likes of TNO, MTOY and P&C. I don’t think any of these will beat Arctic Fire
