Wouldn’t be going into heavy on anything with me still licking my wounds after The Cesarewitch, and there being some very nice types at the top of the market, but managed to have a bet on a couple of them.

Gm Hopkins was unlucky in The Cambridgeshire, and took 16’s, while Zhui Feng at 40’s looks big, surely miles better than those odds.

He needs a few to come out, but think Withernsea could outrun his current odds of 20’s.

Only going to back Bronze Angel for this. Hopefully the price stays up and i can get 5 or 6 places.

I never backed him in the Cambridgeshire and watched him nervously. He was never really put in the race but ran ok, and has been dropped a few lbs back to when he won last year.

I’ve been lucky to have a couple of wins off him in the latter part of the season before and seems to be one of those that has a few poor runs and then a great one. Hopefully it’s this or one before the end of the seasons out.

    Backed 60’s to win & 40’s e/w

Am on MUTARAKEZ at 16/1 and ZHUI FENG at 33/1 ante post and both have turned yp so thats a bonus.!!

And I think AFJAAN and YUFTEN will run big races too!!

But this MUTARAKEZ is a group horse waiting to happen I think.

I’ll finish the day by joining the Zhui Feng gang with a bet at 40s (Stan James)

Off now to have my EW accumulator and land a million! Good luck all.

Joined in as well just now with him as well. Zhui Feng @ 40’s e/w . No idea what happened in France like, but certainly overpriced here

Best of luck on that one everyone. Great stuff :good:

That did’nt last long into 33’s again.

As much as I would love my old fav handicapper Bronze Angel to win I don’t feel he is the horse he was last year, even so have had a smaĺl EW bet on my old friend.
Wouldn’t be surprised to see John Gosden take this with REMARKABLE am hoping the 3yo gelding was given an easy run last time out on the course after his 3 month break. He has an eye catching turn of foot and I hope he will either make all or come with a blistering run down the course in the late stages to steal the prize. :rose: Jac

I think GM HOPKINS has a serious chance of winning this. He clearly loves Ascot,
both his last 2 wins being here, and although he carries top weight he has been dropped a couple
of lbs to 110 which is 2lbs lighter than his last C/D win here back in April. I think he ran better
than his finishing position (12th) suggests last time out in the Cambridgeshire, the race just
didn’t drop right for him. 8/1 looks worth taking.

    Very messy race.

Probably plenty of hard luck stories, none more so than Firmament who would have gone very close with a clear run. I think the weakening bridle merchant Zhui Feng was the main problem. Firmament has been a model of consistency all season and a win here would have been a fitting end to his season.

Hope Mrs Raymo backed him each way too..thought he had it half a furlong from home but drifted left and didnt see it through.

Remarkable goes into the notebook for next season handicaps.. :good:
    1 winner and 3 2nds today 2 x freebets from Paddy Power..
Well done all who had winners especially in the TRF Challenge Compy :good:

Racing Post Trophy and then the flat over for another year..I’m missing it already. Jac

Well done today Jac. I thought I would bring up the bookies offers you mentioned Jac. They get slagged
a lot, and rightly so on many occasions. I’ve also benefitted from PP’s offers and a while back, wondering
why I received more than I thought I should have from BET365, I discovered that when your horse wins at a
bigger price than you took, not only do they give you the better odds, they add further odds to your bet.
I’ve had that a few times, I think the last one was something like, bet at 9/1, returned at 10/1, but paid
out at 11/1. I’m not quoting exactly, I didn’t check back, but that’s the idea. Lower prices may have 1/2 a
point added to the update to best price. On top of that I’ve also had the occasional email letting me know
I’ve had a tenner added to my account, and not just when I’ve lost a few quid. I hope this doesn’t look like advertising for BET365, I’m just highlighting what happened to me.

I’m definitely not the bookies pal, I’ve complained about them often enough. I can’t get a bet on with Coral,
and Ladbrokes won’t guarantee any offers on my account, but fair’s fair when they get it right.

@ BigG…I only keep one account Graham I know it’s wise to shop around and Paddy Power’s prices are often a lot stingier than other bookies but the account suits me and I can keep tabs of all my bets. Paddy also pays on best price except Ante Post and when the racing is abroad and I have benefited from those enhanced odds lots of times.
I think I’ve managed to scrape through the the flat season with a small profit and I am ahead with my racing days at Newmarket because I keep that money separate at home, I have enough for some good days at the Craven and Guineas Meeting next year. For me I don’t bet on every race every day I am very selective with my betting but if I get a horse that I’ve seen (Dawn Approach, Shalaa etc) then I usually follow it over a cliff..LOL

Just enjoy everything about racing and spotting potential even though it might be a loser on the day can often pay dividends later…that’s why Remarkable has gone into the notebook..fingers crossed for him.

I’ve never had enhanced odds on the final SP from Paddy Power like Bet365 offer and it sounds tempting, but happy with my 2 x freebets although there are restrictions and they have to be used by 22nd October so I better get studying..good luck with your bets throughout the jumps season :rose: Jac

PS…Thought GM Hopkins very disappointing yesterday and did notice on Channel 4 that Gosden was very evasive all day regarding giving interviews about his runners, nobody expected Journey to dot up like she did, I did back her but what a turn up although her price almost halved before the off so someone knew something. ;-)

And they’re not Authorised Betting Partners…

@ Jac, I’ve got an account with most, but I probably use PP, Betvictor and BET365 more than
the others. Actually BET365 was the last I signed up to, after Bobby mentioned he found them
to be good. I’ve never had a bet reduced or declined with those 3, I have with some others.
I don’t bet every day, I tend to do most of my betting at the weekend, unless there are some
decent meetings or festivals during the week.

I agree with you on GM Hopins, he was a big disappointment, never looked like getting into the
race. I did, like you, back Journey and had him in my Group 1&2 and TRF V TH competitions, sadly
not in your Select 3 Horses comp, although it would have made no difference anyway. I backed him
at 8/1, if I had known he was going to go off 4/1, I would have backed him for the win, not e/w in
the GP 1&2 comp, however it’s still nip and tuck there with 1 race left.

Good luck with Remarkable next season, I hope he repays you faith :good:

I think the enhanced returns with Bet 365 are relatively new, possibly the last two weeks?

Although they get plenty of stick, at my stake level Bet 365 would be my bookmaker of choice.

I wasn’t sure when they started Stilvi, but I checked back on my messages and
still had copies of these two on 28/09 & 29/09

I think that’s a pretty decent reason to bet with them, although other bookies have offers which
are specific to them. I still look to see who is offering the best odds when I bet, and that’s what
decides where I place my bet, but it is a nice little bonus :good:
