Well done, Bobby and others who climbed to the top with Mountainous (scaling Everest is probably easier)
January 9, 2016 at 15:52 #1229057Jonjo is supposedly worried about the ground for Upswing.
On form has a great chance and has more improvement in him.
I think he goes on heavy, but will he stay the trip on heavy?
Even if the answer is yes; massive negative for me is form of the yard.
Worth opposing at current prices imo.Forget Trainer form Ginge when it comes to Jonjo,he is a master of readying one for a target and this is a target horse today.
Do you still think so Gord?

“Always towards rear, struggling when pulled up after 11th”.
Only runner on a busy Saturday and no runners entered next week.
Fair comment Ginge!
January 9, 2016 at 16:18 #1229061Did Firebird Flyer & Black Thunder so a case of what might have been; FF could be seen being held together throughout the race; they just might have held on to him a fraction too long.
January 9, 2016 at 18:58 #1229099Thanks all, now to start planning winning it next year, and I’ve got todays winner, Otago Trail on my radar already
January 9, 2016 at 20:59 #1229106I’m going to depress myself by having a quick look at Mountainous’s race record [didn’t do that last night]. I think I’m going to see a lot of comments such as ‘heavy ground’ ‘stayed on strongly’. On top of that I’ve been following horses taken over by lady trainers who bring out improvement in them. [phew; nothing there that would have made me go overboard about backing him at the price he was…feel better now]
January 10, 2016 at 16:56 #1229157I’m already with Cogry but might add Firebird Flyer. His record at local tracks Chepstow and Ffos Las is excellent and the ground is right. No wins yet at Chepstow but some good runs and a staying on third behind Tour Des Champs last time. Second behind Emperor’s Choice over 3m4f at Ffos Las two years ago.
Might get a place at a big price.
Pleased with the run of Firebird Flyer but Twiston Davies needs to pull his finger out and appoint a top stable jockey. Hatch is nowhere near good enough yet and both Cogry and Algernon Pazham have been given bad rides this season.
