arrgghhh!!
the winner everywhere but the line
to add to the pain I wrote out a winning slip on full shift earlier, screwed it up and backed west wizard
December 26, 2015 at 15:20 #1227235Outstayed him, Vautour looked very tired when they pulled up after the race (carrying his head very low) and I think the Gold Cup is off the agenda after that.
December 26, 2015 at 15:21 #1227236Did Don Cossack get up ok?

December 26, 2015 at 15:24 #1227239Fantastic to see Cue Card win. What a race and what a horse.
I backed Don Cossack but if he couldn’t win I’m so glad Cue Card did.
December 26, 2015 at 15:24 #1227240Fantastic race – well done Cue Card supporters. I’m delighted for the horse and connections. And I was wrong by more than a short head, because I thought Vautour would win that as comfortably as it looked he was going to do turning in.
December 26, 2015 at 15:25 #1227241What a race, Cue Card has undoubtedly proved he is top notch.
What a pity he didn’t have his problems sorted out a couple of
seasons back.No idea what was amiss with Don Cossack. He did well enough to stay
in the mix because he never looked happy. I actually thought that
at one point, when he suddenly fell back from 3rd to about 6th in a
few strides, that he had gone wrong and would be pulled up. He did
get back into it but it was hard work from far too far out and I don’t
think he was going to win when he fell.It will be interesting to see what the connections say.
Congratulations to all that stuck by Cue Card and the connections.
December 26, 2015 at 15:27 #1227242Race of the season so far for sure. Just a shame Don Cossack fell, it could’ve been three in a line at the post.
December 26, 2015 at 15:27 #1227243Triple Crown anyone?
December 26, 2015 at 15:33 #1227244With everything against him today Vautour will reverse that at Cheltenham.
Yes he looked tired but 82 days till the Gold Cup.Blackbeard to conquer the World
December 26, 2015 at 15:38 #1227245Cue Card has an amazing record. Last night I checked his profile on sportinglife and he was something like 50 quid up to a level stake. Will be more now.
Was tempted to back him as that showed he was a underestimated horse in general by the public but can’t back everything I guess.
Thought even in defeat Vautour surely improved his reputation. And don’t forget Cue Card himself was reeled back in similar fashion when looking to have the race in the bag, by Conti a couple of years ago.

December 26, 2015 at 15:46 #1227249Yes, better ground, going left handed.

December 26, 2015 at 15:47 #1227251Fantastic race; backed Vautour, but delighted to see Cue Card prevail. I suspect Don Cossack was staying on better than Cue Card, so he certainly would have been in the mix. Slightly disappointed with Vautour; jumped left, which obviously cost time + momentum, so we could expect a better performance at Cheltenham; still question marks about his stamina
December 26, 2015 at 15:48 #1227252Don Cossack was on the receiving end of an awful ride by Bryan Cooper who looked incredibly nervous before the race.
December 26, 2015 at 15:51 #1227254Vautour still going Ryanair Ginge….?
Unless Djakadam disappoints badly there is no way connections of Vautour will be tempted by the Gold Cup Nathan. Can’t exactly say he “didn’t stay” today, as it was his best performance on ratings. But there’s no doubt in my mind the reason why he didn’t win today was his stamina gave out. He’ll do better over shorter and going left handed. No point going for a Gold Cup over 2 1/2 furlongs further on a far stiffer course.
Value Is EverythingDecember 26, 2015 at 15:54 #1227256No point in the others turning up who were 13+ lengths behind or Cue Card who was also dead on his feet at the end.
