    Aconitum = 2nd @ 10-1

    Bank c/f = £39

Thanks Rich, thought for a few strides that he was gonna get there but not to be. Bank is now higher than it was this morning though!

    Selection Tuesday 19th January

A decent card at Southwell today. A couple of longer priced ones catch the eye in the 3.00, namely Long Hop and Quelqu’un Comme Toi. There was some 10-1 Long Hop but is generally shorter so I will go for the latter.

    £1 e/w Quelqu’un Comme Toi 3.00 Southwell (16-1)
Wasn’t unfancied for a 2n 5f handicap at Cheltenham last time out running moderately but not without hope. He finished 21 lengths behind Lord Ragnar in mid division. Todays step up in trip should suit and he could defy those large odds today.

Agree that on form this has a decent chance, if forgiving his run last time at C – but the form of the NTD yard is a concern.

Ran well for long way, needs a fence now by the looks of him though.

    Result = Unplaced

    Bank c/f = £37.

    Selection Wednesday 20th January

    £1 e/w Quws Law 2.15 Newcastle (20-1)
A fairly inconsistent type but he does go on heavy ground and 20-1 is a bit on the long side. Its the first racing up north in a while so obviously there are concerns over fitness but most of these are in the same boat. He certainly has the form to take a hand in the finish here and will probably either win or be pulled up. Either way I will probably know after 1m if he is on a going day or not!

Other longshots today include Minouchka 1.40 Newcastle (16-1); Something Silver 2.50 Newcastle (16-1); and December Draw 2.30 Lingfield (20-1). Those 4 make a nice 10p each way Lucky 15!

Quws Law = A complete and utter dog (sorry if I offend anyone).

I guess thats the chance you take with these long shots!

    Bank c/f = £35

    Selection Thursday 21st January

Still undeterred I am soldiering in my quest for that long priced winner!

Today the shortlist is Pistol Debois, Benfleet Boy and Big Knickers.

    £1 e/w Big Knickers (25-1) 4.00 Taunton
Stable has had winners in the past week and in bumpers and as highlighted with a previous selection (Aconitum), the Trainer/Jockey combe do ok. There are no "big" yards represented in this (apart from Alan King’s horse – but his yard is struggling) and so we’ll take a chance at 25-1.

Big Knickers = 4th (like all nice 25-1 each way shots)

Disappointing but I cant be too far away from a decent priced winner!

    Bank c/f = £33

New job these days so cant get online to make postings here everyday. However, had a free evening to look at Todays cards…and gonna dive in with a bold each way Lucky 64 (will update odds taken tomorrow)!

    Akilak 2.05 Cheltenham
Has good course form and goes well fresh. He is coming down the handicap and even has the capable Ryan Mania onboard (claiming 3lb) to lower that weight. Its also Ryan’s only ride at the Track…and Howard Johnson could easily have just put up Brian Hughes who is there to ride Tidal Bay anyway. Akilak also handles cut and likes 2.5m.

Lie Forrit 3.40 Cheltenham (7-2 bog)
Rapid improver with conditions to suit and an attitude that means he will try all the way up the hill. Its arguably an under class Cleeve Hurdle but makes it more open and I believe Lie Forrit to be primed for a big run.

    Aachen 4.20 Cheltenham
Was quite well fancied for the Lanzarote at Kempton on his seasonal comeback but ran pretty poorly. However Aidan Coleman felt he never got Aachen into a rhythm and that he expects better today. Its a race full of mostly exposed types and Aachen is a potential improver who was touted as a live Supreme or County Hurdle contender at last years Festival. Arctic Magic is my danger as she’ll love the soft ground and has good course form on her 3rd behing Punchestowns and Ballydub at the beginning of last season.

    Nenuphar Collonges 3.25 Doncaster (14-1)
Have to be honest and say I fancy a few in this (Seven is my number and Killyglen other two) but given the odds on Nenuphar Collonges and the signs Alan King is returning to form I will take a chance. He has every chance on his 3rd to the McCoy inspired Wichita Lineman at last years festivval and he will certainly appreciate the decent ground at Donny.

    My Petra 4.00 Doncaster
Seems to prefer decent ground and to be fresh. Both boxes ticked today. He would have hacked up at Wetherby if Barry Geraghty hadn’t taken the wrong course and I am sure he will be ultra determined to get this one home in front today! There are a lot of these Mares hurdle races these days (which is good) and also means we can see more form lines developing. Think My Petra has the UK challengers covered on that basis with the exception of the promising Alegralil whose full potential isn’t yet clear. The irish challengers are something of an unknown to me but I will oppose them.

So there you have it my Lucky 64 selections. The eagle eyed will have noticed I only have 5 selections but thats because I want to wait until I see the markets for a couple of races before I post my 6th selection. My 6th selection will come from a shortlist of Possol (2.50 Donc); Clova Island (1.10 Donc); and Heathcote (2.20 Donc).

I will probably have a saver each way lucky 15 on the following:-

    Tidal Bay 3.40 Chelt
Seven is My Number 3.25 Donc
    Arctic Magic 4.20 Chelt
    One of (Possol/Clova Island/Heathcote).

    Good luck all for today!

    Seven Is My Number
    Tidal Bay
    Baylini
    Arctic Magic

Three winners in Tidal Bay (14-1), Baylini (13-2) and Arctic Magic (6-1). What a ride on Baylini by Hayley Turner, ride of the day by a mile!

Well done Doug, some good prices there.

It was great ride from Hayley and i thought her other winner on Purple Gallery was good considering how wide the horse went, maybe one to keep an eye on.

Are you any closer with your Football plans? My thread with the correct score doubles is on the slide but it’s a two year plan so I’m not panicking yet.

To be honest I haven’t managed to really get into my Football bets of late. Basically it involves concentrating on the Scottish League as this where my greater expertise lies. Include the English Premiership too.

Going to look at under/over goal lines. Some teams really struggle to score while others struggle to defend so there is definite potential in this. Dont think I’ll start looking properly until next season.

In the meantime I’m gonna run with multiples…Yankees, Canadians, Heinzs, Lucky 15/31/64’s on the Horses to build up a fund.

How did December Draw go that day? Mark Kavanagh has improved the horse out of sight 5 wins from 6 starts. Now fav for both Caulfield and Melbourne Cups.
