Some may think I’m clutching at straws but if Hanagan only rides say 1 winner today, Hughes has got 15 mounts tomorrow and they’ll all have chances, this is far from over.
Could he?
October 26, 2010 at 21:43 #324785There are umpteen threads about this under various titles, can’t we just wait & see what happens instead of posting one sentence or a couple of words about it at regular intervals. For instance waited until racing finished yesterday & then commenting on the winners he had. In the great scheme of things it matters not a jot & outside ‘our’ little world the publicity has been noticeable by its absence. I
October 26, 2010 at 22:22 #324795Believe me, it matters quite alot to punters who have yet to be paid out on Hanagan and also, the army of Hughes followers hopeing for a comeback.
It’s the business end of the season now.
October 26, 2010 at 22:30 #324797Didn’t Ladbrokes already pay out on Hanagan?
I’d love to see Hughes win it & that would make me chuckle all the more.

Yeah they’re the only firm that have, I think it’s a long shot still ‘hughes’ but he’ll deffo fancy it, this is his last chance to win it as a jockey IMO. Noone will compete with an injury free Ryan Moore next season IMO.
October 27, 2010 at 12:44 #3248571-0 Hanagan. Grissom, awesome ride.

HUGHES TO SWERVE BREEDERS’ CUP
By Neil Morrice, Press Association Sport, Kentucky
Richard Hughes will not compete in this weekend’s Breeders’ Cup.
The title-chasing rider will instead remain in Britain as he looks to claw back Paul Hanagan’s lead at the summit of the jockeys’ championship.
The biggest ride Hughes will relinquish at Churchill Downs is Paco Boy, who runs against Goldikova in the Breeders’ Cup Mile on Saturday.
The two-time Group One winner, who will break from gate six in the 11-runner field, will instead be ridden by Ryan Moore.
"It’s a shame for Hughesie but it’s a lovely spare to get," said Moore.
Goldikova has been drawn in stall 10 as the wondermare looks to win the race for a third time.
Hughes is currently three winners adrift of Hanagan, with four days of the season remaining.
The former is, however, unable to ride on Friday as he has reached his quota of nine fixtures for a week.
