FFS!
Dubawi Ran a RPR of 116 when 3rd in the Derby, his best rating over 1m being 12lbs higher. Hawk Wing ran a 127 when 2nd in the Derby, his best 1m rating being 7lb higher. Go figure!
After his run in the Eclipse, RVW was dropped back to Im (twice), swerving such races as The Juddmonte International and The Champion Stakes, and not reverting to 10f until a much lesser test came along i.e. Santa Anita.
On Sep 25th ,almost 3 months after his Eclipse run,
J Murtagh was quoted thus:
"Now knowing him I think he’s a horse that likes to use that high cruising gear. I would say a mile is good for him and maybe, later in the campaign, he might get a mile and a quarter".
NowI don’t think he stayed
, –
his jockey doesn’t think he stayed
, and (judged on his placing)
his trainer doesn’t think he stayed
. Trouble is, there are too many on here who know far better.
Well lets just throw logic out the window then and listen to jockey, they are never wrong you know.

November 3, 2009 at 22:14 #256994Exactly Sir H.
Murtagh was spot on picking Duke Of Marmalade over Henrythenavigator last year too…..he didnt think Henry would get the trip!
Fair play though Reet, as i’ve said before everyone is entitled to their opinion.

True enough hth, but I’d need more convincing than someone telling me jockey and trainer are wrong to agree with it.

Haha Reet I dont expect you to agree with me.
I’m purely stating you shouldnt base your selections with that as their main foundation.
November 3, 2009 at 23:31 #257002Good heavens it’d be nice for the BC website to actually post the fields in full! Can’t find them anywhere.
Any ideas?
November 3, 2009 at 23:55 #257003I’m looking everywhere for them. No luck.
You’d think theyd be more organised wouldnt you
November 4, 2009 at 00:15 #257007Horses with fabulous breeding for a Breeder’s Cup, looking laid out (as I suppose most are…), and which, taking account of other, form factors, I like the look of, are:
Visit in the BCFMT
Lord Shanakill in the BSTS
Man Of Iron BCMOthers I have a fancy for are:
Junia Tepzia BCJFT
Radiohead BCJNow, watch them tank.
November 4, 2009 at 07:26 #257013Bob Baffert says the track is playing more like dirt this year due to it being a year older and the ammount of water they’re putting on it.
The Americans ain’t making much out of it though becuase they love a good excuse.
I think that’s silly. It’s synthetic. It’s going to play like what it is. That’s like saying concrete is playing like mud. We don’t need an excuse. If a horse doesn’t run on it that has run on it before and gets beaten then that is because they were not the best horse on that day. Indian Blessing likes dirt more than synthetic and will run as best she can on this stuff. Ventura and Informed Decision like it very much and will run accordingly. If Indian Blessing loses then what will be his excuse for her? That the dirtlike synthetic suddenly became dryer and reverted back to it’s original form? Or did she get beaten because someone who has beaten her already on the stuff ran better? This should be interesting.
November 4, 2009 at 07:30 #257014Crazy post draws
Goldikova gets gate 11 of 11 (You really want a low draw to get round quick on the first turn)
Unsuprisingly Zensational gets stall 1 which will play to his speed-ball tactics no end.
It’s a fix
LOLOL You know Lure pulled the outside post in his second win in the Mile. He was just the best horse on the day. I think if Goldikova runs to her talent she should be okay. She has a good turn of foot when needed. Zensational getting the 1 hole. Wow. Yeah that’s lucky. The others are going to have to put in a top performance to catch him.

November 4, 2009 at 13:06 #257059I do not have RUK but do you guys think Bookies should be open for the late races at the Breeders cup.Because of this i will not able to watch the classic and other late races my local closes at 10.00.
I think they should be open all night just for the Breeders cup so loyal punters should be able to watch these races.
And Goldikova and Zenyatta. Are my tips so far.
November 4, 2009 at 13:59 #257070I’d love to see Rip win the Classic, but, even without his foot problem, I think it will be an uphill battle from his draw. Wonder if it will be Summer Bird and not Zenyatta taking the prize – SB’s price is too big, and I think he represents value.
With the heavy favourite in the Juvenile having the worst of the draw, I think this race is wide open and a real chance for a Euro to score at tasty odds – but which one?
November 4, 2009 at 16:52 #257085Thank you for the excellent discussion @ The Racing Forum!
Wonderful to be able to check-in from "across the pond"
to get the inside perspective on the European challengers!
Best of luck this weekend… HAPPY BREEDERS’ CUP!!!

November 4, 2009 at 19:07 #257098There are just sooooo many negatives for RVW – just can’t see him doing it
I’m still very sweet on Gladiatorus for the Mile – morning line odds of 20/1 also look tasty
Beethoven and Alfred Novel worth a few quid at big prices too I reckon
I really like Gayego and Father Time but they both look like being shorter than I wanted
November 4, 2009 at 20:46 #257109I am also interested in Gladiatorus in the belief a reproduction of the Dubai form would be more than good enough to see off this lot. The best you can get over here is 12/1 – can someone advise where to look for the US odds?

There aren’t yet any US odds as such. They have just predicted that he will be a 20/1 shot – could be accurate or well off depending. Simply a case of using their Pool betting system on the night if you want to back him at US odds
November 4, 2009 at 21:10 #257115Was planning to open a topic for each of teh key Breeders Cup Races Thursday evening. Hope it won’t be hijacking this thread? Let me know if you object.
