“Yes was very reminiscent of coroebus the way he cantered all over them”
Didn’t Coroebus have a draw advantage over a stable companion and held on? Today was different he really was proper good.
May 4, 2024 at 16:21 #1692847“A victory for sectional times. ”
Certainly not something I rely on but was the only reason I backed him
May 4, 2024 at 16:36 #1692850Ginger you’re on fire at the moment. A 100/1 winner the other day and now NS at all odds from 24s. Top man
I had to settle for 3rd at 25s e/w on Haatem, happy with that.
May 4, 2024 at 16:40 #1692852I would not rule out City Of Troy in the Derby though.
It has been the case for many years now, but this year even more apparent AOB horses have widely needed their first run. That said, making a front running miler into a mile and a half hold up horse is more difficult than a hold up miler into a hold up mile and a half horse.
Value Is EverythingMay 4, 2024 at 16:42 #1692853Thanks BigG, now for the 1000.
Value Is EverythingMay 4, 2024 at 16:56 #1692856Nice place return for Haatem.
There are two categories of horse that are under-rated by the market in these events. Firstly those who have had a lot of racing (Haatem) and secondly those coming off racing on artificial surfaces (Notable Speech).
May 4, 2024 at 17:45 #1692874Are none of the first three entered for Derby?

May 4, 2024 at 17:53 #1692879No. Only 1 mile races. I looked that up today as I always ignore any horses that are entered in 6f races later in the season. I ignore Coolmore entries because they have the money to enter them for everything.
May 4, 2024 at 18:01 #1692882From the Stewards Report:
“The performance of CITY OF TROY (USA), which started favourite and finished unplaced, was considered. The representative of Aidan O’Brien’s explanation that the colt became tired on his seasonal reappearance in a strongly run race was noted. The Veterinary Officer examined CITY OF TROY (USA) during routine testing and had nothing to report.”
May 4, 2024 at 18:09 #1692884Tired after 2 furlongs?
At least rodin had excuses last year in getting impeded and the ground being wrong for him
Surely obrein can’t turn this one around like he did last year
Gonna have a few beers tonight and a flick through the derby entries to try and find some likely types
May 4, 2024 at 18:15 #1692885But Aidan said the horse doesn’t get tired….😴😴😴
Blackbeard to conquer the World
May 4, 2024 at 18:23 #1692887Wasn’t Ryan’s decision to make so much use of Troy early on to gain immediate prominence a little unwise given it was his first run. Looked to me too he didn’t fancy the ground.
May 4, 2024 at 18:29 #1692891Wouldn’t have won with a 100 metre head start and two Ryan Moore’s onboard
Blackbeard to conquer the World
May 4, 2024 at 18:37 #1692894Maybe so but he was somewhat rushed off his feet and never had chance to settle early on
May 4, 2024 at 18:38 #1692895“The representative of Aidan O’Brien’s explanation that the colt became tired on his seasonal reappearance”
Maybe the horse panicked because he has never been tired in his life apparently so he didn’t know what was happening.
May 4, 2024 at 19:10 #1692897He wasn’t quick from the stalls and Moore did push him early for a prominent position but was that his undoing, who knows but he folded quickly. Be the Commonwealth Cup next.
The things I want most in life are the things that I can't win.
May 4, 2024 at 19:10 #1692898Sporting life saying O’Briens saying that Ryan Moore said City of Troy was upset in the stalls as reason to poor run wasn’t he last in stalls so wouldn’t had much time get upset
