Camelot screams "Derby" to be fair. RP winner. Montjeu / Tarfah. Certainly doesn’t seem an obvious Guineas horse, although it doesn’t appear the strongest renewal (dangerous to say at this early stage, i know).
Saying that – Sakhee’s Secret didn’t scream ‘Sprinter’ either. Not an exact science, but i’d lean away from Camelot personally. But what else is there? Looks a no bet race.
March 28, 2012 at 07:44 #398593I still can not believe the price of Power, seemingly massively overpriced based on his two year old form. 14/1
March 29, 2012 at 12:28 #398689Have had a small EW investment on Beaufort Twelve at 66s, ran a nice debut, didn’t beat much but best work was at the end and was then put away.
Apparently has worked well and William Jarvis can train one when they are decent
March 29, 2012 at 12:48 #398693saw a video of power working at the curragh and he worked terribly, apparently he’s a bit behind in his work, so unlikely to be fully wound-up for the guineas. i’d be careful of backing any of obriens in this race given his recent record of seemingly using the race as a prep run for targets later in the year.
March 29, 2012 at 12:51 #398695speaking of montjeu and his inability to sire a group one winner over a mile, he better get a move on as the sad news is he died this morning
March 29, 2012 at 13:08 #398698Just five years to do it now.
March 29, 2012 at 23:28 #398752Is Born to Sea being aimed at this?
April 2, 2012 at 21:19 #399179Think hes having arun on 15th april and judging it from there
April 14, 2012 at 19:23 #400707Can anybody give a reason as to why Aljamaaheer’s price has contracted today?
April 17, 2012 at 08:03 #401156Not sure but Aljamaaheer is available at 80s on Betfair and the last matched price was 60s so the 20s generally on offer is not tempting. My guess is someone from the stable tried to get on in the High Street so panic ensued.
With regard to Born to Sea and his possible participation at Newmarket, I suspect it will be very ground dependent. Looking at his action and confirmation I cannot see him being risked on any going that has the word "firm" in the description. You might lose a point off the price by waiting till the day of the race but you stand more chance of not getting a run for your money if you back him now.
April 17, 2012 at 08:56 #401162Yes,I put a small bet on at 75 and layed at 32 on betfair and now have a small free saver, but as you say he’s gone out again, now 90. He’s currently entered in a Newbury handicap on Friday.
Out of those that won maidens 1st or 2nd time out last year I like Aljamaaheer and also Mighty Ambition who has a five day entry for both the Craven and the Greenham. This afternoon it might be clearer where he is going to race.
My main hope was Akeed Mofeed for which I had big prices and thanks to Pricewise layed most off when the prices came in to 14 but lameness has put an end of that.
French Fifteen is another played and layed but he might not like good fast ground.
I’m looking forward to the Craven, maybe Most Improved will be as good as the trainer claims but Trumpet Major might be better, maybe Mighty Ambition could have improved and trained on well and win, a lot of maybe’s!
April 17, 2012 at 11:52 #401186Born to Sea 11s top price from 20s at the start of the month.
Looks positive.

Drifted out to 16.5 on Betfair today.
To my mind there is no point getting involved until you know he is a definite runner and the going.
April 18, 2012 at 17:44 #401310Good to see Model Pupil win today,
3rd to Mighty Ambition last year, hope he runs well in the Craven tomorrow.
April 19, 2012 at 06:56 #401369I’ve been laying Most improved for the Guineas so I’ll be watching with interest today as he struts his stuff in the Craven.
I can see why Meehan might think he’s a bit special as he looks like a horse who would eat up the gallops at home but when I watch the Dewhurst I see nothing that says this horse will win a classic.
He also looked very much at home in the rain softened ground when he won his maiden and while he might be better than this lot today I wouldn’t be backing him on the ground. He has a high knee action and was paddling on the same ground in the Dewhurst and that’s enough for me to say no today.
The big if is will Camelot be ready for the Guineas I doubt if AOB cares to be honest. The race without adding something like to the Sussex on top is worthless in comparison to winning the Derby and he surely must be thinking let the horse come to himself and don’t push him.
I certainly wont be making my mind up until the day and more info about how horses have progressed comes to light.
April 19, 2012 at 07:29 #401370Most Improved withdrawn from the Craven just now.
April 19, 2012 at 12:51 #401399Hmmm!
