A result that would have not happened today and was a battle between two great tough fillies.
August 16, 2025 at 22:45 #1738106Not so sure: 2 1/2 lengths was a wider winning margin than. would normally be overturned these days.
Two excellent 2yo fillies, by the way, but neither was in the same league as Miesque and Indian Skimmer at three.
August 17, 2025 at 02:45 #1738111Not a chance in hell they overturn that decision if it was run today under the current rules, I doubt an appeal would have even been lodged (not sure what the appeals board were thinking) as Minestrella had every chance but simply wasn’t good enough on the day.
Minstrella didn’t seem to train on at 3 and whilst Forest Flower won the Irish 1000g it seemed she had her health issues (missed 1000g at Newmarket and Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot) and never run again following being tailed off behind Sonic Lady in the Child/Falmouth Stakes.
Both were excellent 2yr olds but reiterating Glad’s point, neither would have seen which way Miesque or Indian Skimmer went at 3.
August 30, 2025 at 19:46 #1739191Totally agree re Miesque and Indian Skimmer at 3 but both Forest Flower and Minstrella were campaigned toughly at 2 against both sexes and Minstrella a beast of a filly you would think would improve throughout 2 to 3 where as Forest Flower was a slip of a filly would do best at 2. The scenario flipped on its head the smaller filly trtaining on way better than the bigger filly. However talking of Miesque and Indian Skimmer I vdery much doubt they would have seen which way either of therse fillies went at 2 but for me 4 amazing fillies and sadly only 1 of them Miesque going on to prove a top broodmare as well.
