Wilson,
Hate to tell you but she was beaten into 3rd just a moment ago.

The ante-post king strikes again.
Nice work, GWILSON77.
April 12, 2009 at 18:04 #221449No, usually this race is a trial for the pouliches. Should be an interesting race. Proportional is obviously the one to beat but Tamazirte and Soneva could potentially cause an upset. Prices should be interesting.
I must admit, I’m not 100% surprised by that result.
Bul, go to bed! where on earth do you get the notion that Elusive could beat Proportional in a rematch! Proportional toyed with her in the Boussac!
Well Wilson, Elusive would certainly look to have the better 3yo mile form, than proportional. So, I think going for the Diane is probably the best option for the latter. IMO a 3yo mile is much more about speed than a 2yo mile.

April 12, 2009 at 18:33 #221459Watching Proportional today she pulled a bit early on off what wan’t much of a gallop. She will improve for a more true run race and probably for the race. I can’t see her going to Newmarket now. Maybe Epsom for the Oaks though. Being by Beat Hollow out of a Generous mare she will be suited by much more a test of stamina than she got today.
April 12, 2009 at 19:39 #221473I think in general people read too much into one performance, especially a bad one. This would especially apply to seasonal debuts or to prep races. I think you are a bit too quick to put the boot into Gordon – I was hoping to wait until the Guineas weekend.
April 12, 2009 at 19:52 #221477She’s probably run a decent trial… for the oaks. She was well positioned through out, all be it a little keen but was simply collared by some speedier types, as Bulwark mentioned there was every chance this could be possible. She has a pedigree which screams stamina and i couldn’t take her seriously for the guineas escpecially after that performance which completely confirms my thoughts she’ll be better over further

NO PROBLEM GERALD, Any one that thinks that Proportional actually
had a race today is decieving themselves, the stiff mile at Newmarket
would suit her down to the ground, she would hopefully get a good pace set for her aswell which would bring her stamina into play, i just hope
Madame Head does what she did with Miesque as she too was never going to come to Newmarket and see what happened there!
Just for your information Equitrack, Miesque won the guineas at 15/8fav
the Ante-post king backed her at 16/1, that would have bought you a lot
of nappies!April 12, 2009 at 21:43 #221498The Newmarket 1,000 guineas IMO shows more of a preference for speedy sorts than the 2000 guineas, and Proportional looked to have all the hallmarks of a horse who may struggle for speed in a 3yo mile race.
1mile 2yo contests usually show a preference for horses who will see out extra distance at 3yo, and with the Marcel Boussac being quite strongly run last year and being won by a filly who had a stayers pedigree, the winner always looked far from certain to uphold that form over 1 mile this season.
The french have quite a tendency for jog and sprint contests, which place even more emphasis on speed and for that reason I have always much prefered Elusive Wave for the pouliches as she looked like a classy customer last season and has now upheld that view this season. Elusive Wave, although more likely to run in the pouliches than at newmarket should also prove a nice sort to bring over for the coronation stakes aswell.
Have always thought that Proportional will be better when stepped up, and still think that.
As far as newmarket goes, i think it is fairly certain she wont be coming over.

But you’re living on past, unsubstantiated glories again GWILSON77 – means next to feck all I’m afraid.

Miesque winning the 1000gns meant an awful lot to me all those years ago
and being a true racing enthusiast it still means a lot today, what the obvious difference between you and me is that, i have experience on my side and experience is everything when you have an opinion, like i keep saying there is nothing worse than a big mouth who cant back it up! Being
a good judge of people is very difficult when all you can analyse is their
written work, but i could give you an experienced guess that you are not
over 25 years old and have never had a Girlfriend!!!!!!!April 13, 2009 at 04:26 #221570AnonymousInactive- Total Posts 17716
Damn, you got me.
I’m actually an eighteen-year-old inductee to the Tibetan School of Buddhism, which I believe ranks just below Cambridge in The Times university list – the standard of teaching is first rate, but the pyjama uniform is bloody awful and my head gets awfully cold in the winter.
Form study isn’t generally considered to be a step toward nirvana, or indeed appropriate for a soon-to-be Bhikkhu, but I’ve got to do something to relieve the boredom of being stuck on this mountain. But despite having only three-dozen bald men as company, a ninety-year-old teacher who looks suspiciously like Mr Miyagi and a diet of Uncle Ben’s, I can actually form a sentence (I’ll send you the course details).
Don’t worry about me though. Teacher (we call him that, it makes him feel special) is taking me to America soon and, though he doesn’t want to spoil the surprise, he says the phrase ‘wax on, wax off, Daniel-son’ will come to mean a great deal.

I knew i could get that sense of humour out! Excellent response!
April 13, 2009 at 14:22 #221608Although Art Connoisseur is running in the Free H’cap, I’ll be having a bet on Rose Diamond [edit: in that race], as I’m fairly sure she is better than a 100 rating. I also had a place bet on her for the Guineas this morning, as it was the first time that I had noticed she was in the betting.
I’ve been using the ground as an excuse for her.
April 13, 2009 at 14:45 #221615I can’t get away from Rainbow View and I think she’ll win the 1000.
April 13, 2009 at 15:30 #221626I still harbour doubts about Rainbow View’s ability to truly stay a mile, but listening to John Gosden the other day, I must say he does seem rather bullish about his filly’s chance. I get the feeling he thinks that she is something very special indeed.
With that in mind, I shall keep the 1,000 Guineas options door very much open.
Gambling Only Pays When You're Winning
April 13, 2009 at 23:33 #221742I was there the day she won the fillies mile and she was difficult to pull up and still full of beans and bites on her way back in. She’ll have no trouble with the mile and its her and Shimah against the field for me.
