Just noticed that Sir Reginald won earlier. He finished 1 1/2L behind I Love Me on the latter’s racecourse debut.

An immature horse that’s improved a bit from two to three. I’m sure the gelding operation helped as well. Not sure it’s a formline that boosts the filly’s Guineas chances at all.

Can you seriously admit Sing Softly is Group 1 classic winning 3 year old filly.
Just can’t see it, clutching at straws now sorry.
April 13, 2011 at 17:02 #350146The horse I like the look of is Nova Hawk. She’s improving, she fits the trends, and – perhaps crucially – she’s somewhat ignored, what with her being French, so 66s is a really good e/w price.

So don't run, just like the others always do

She’s an interesting filly. Didn’t get much of a winter break. Beat some promising unbeaten types first time out at St Cloud. Looked to improve in the process but may of had a residual fitness edge. Has a fair bit to find with Midnight Cloud who is a more certain traveller for mine. Ground good or better could be a real worry too.
April 16, 2011 at 19:33 #350621Poor run from Cape Dollar. She looked okay in the paddock, not quite in her coat. Still a disappointing run. Would be shocked to see her win the 1000 G. Cochabamba ran much better but won’t be winning any Guineas. Disappointing hit for the Rockfel and I Love Me form but Sir Reginald was much better and the 2 will simply want further in time and outstayed the future Guineas winner in October.
Much more worrying is the poor form of Andrew Balding.
April 17, 2011 at 10:19 #350726Connections of Laughing Lashes are expecting a big run in the Qipco 1000 Guineas at Newmarket on Sunday week with the benefit of a winter on her back.
The Jessica Harrington-trained filly was not out of the first two in four starts last season, rounding off her campaign with a close second in the Group One Moyglare Stud Stakes to old rival Misty For Me.
The grey had previously beaten Misty For Me in the Debutante Stakes, and is reported to have made real progress from two to three.
Harrington said:
"She’s a very big filly, and even makes Pathfork look small.
It was surprising she did so well last year.
"She seems in great form and is working very well. I think she will continue to progress as the year goes on."
And while she is the mount of Fran Berry, Harrington’s main jumps jockey Robbie Power is very sweet on her chance.
Power said: "Pathfork gets most of the limelight in the yard, but this filly is the one I’m really looking forward to seeing at Newmarket.
"I’ve never seen a filly develop as much as she has."
Well I’ve seen her as the dark horse since I first properly looked at the race but surely if she’s a very big filly then she’ll need a couple of runs to get her fit?
April 19, 2011 at 09:36 #351084Cautiously optimistic quotes from Prescott regarding Hooray today.
Perhaps i see things a little too simplistically, but Hooray clearly looks the value to me. Looked a fair bit clear of everything else last season, can afford to have improved slightly less than everything else IMO. 16’s looks tasty enough.

That’s ok keep it simple PC. I’ve had her in my top three for a while. Attraction wasn’t that long ago and this filly looks awfully similar. Attraction went off overs in the Guineas too. There certainly are worse selections than Hooray.
April 20, 2011 at 07:54 #351201This is looking like a better betting opportunity than the 2000G so i have backed
Have also taken an EW double:1000G: Laughing Lashes 12s
2000G:
Just for a bit of fun, hopefully the filly will give me a run on the colt.Have a good day all
April 20, 2011 at 10:15 #351228The Attraction comparison is one i had thought about myself too Ian. So many people / experts telling the world at the time that Attraction didn’t have the scope, was a forward 2yo who the others would have trained on past. I even see paralells between Red Bloom and Havant, both too short because of the same "fashionable" connections in my opinion.
Prescott got Confidential Lady ready well enough a few years back, which is another positive. If Hooray makes it to the day, she’ll have every chance as her trainer is very obviously the opposite of Clive Brittain when it comes to "tilting at windmills".
Attraction seemed like the obvious bet to me at the time, and Hooray does too. I have Memory down as the danger and may well back her too.
April 20, 2011 at 11:01 #351233Moonlight Cloud looks the standout filly in the 1000
no bet as yet tho
April 20, 2011 at 16:07 #351269Very interesting to see the form for I Love Me’s debut win working out so very well.
Sir Reginald’s come out as a 3yo and won £83k Sales race and finished 3L behind Wootton Bassett before finishing 1 1/2L behind I Love Me.
The 6th Auld Burns was quoted by Richard Hannon in Steve Taplin’s 2yo book as ‘my Coventry horse’. Strong Suit went on to win the Coventry for Hannon. He also had a £500 bet with Julie Wood that he’d be rated higher than Zebedee at the end of the season. Clearly very highly rated. He won the 10f Sales race at Newmarket last week.
Roman Eagle & Barney Rebel have won since too.

I still fail to see how the form of three restricted sales races and now two very weak Epsom races equates to the improved chances of a Guineas winner.
That said I would always expect to see plenty of winners come from a sales race that’s got plenty of lightly raced prior winners and placed horses engaged.
ps You forgot Little Black Book ( who won an even weaker race yesterday ).

Of course the trainer is keen on her, how many decent flat horses has she had again?
Midnight Cloud has good 2yo form that has worked out well and won her trial impressively. Havant has her trainer’s profile and reputation to her name and that’s about it. How is that much of a muchness?
April 22, 2011 at 00:44 #351491How many decent flat horses did David O’Brien have before he won the Derby with Roberto? One? two? You have to have your first one.And she knows horses like nobody else.

Harrington was going on about her having grown so much, surely that’ll just make it harder to get her fit!?!
