We want young, fun people on here rather than boring people
Do you consider yourself a prime example of this "young, fun" crowd, whose posts simply ooze with youthful wit and brio? Whatever….
I seem to remember you posting somewhere that you were in your mid-30’s, which seems quite boringly middle-aged to me. I mean, like, you actually use an
i-phone
– how uncool is that?
So, in the immortal words of Kenneth Williams: "Speak for yourself, ducky".

So, where does that leave Nathan Hughes, Matthew?
Is Nathan Hughes the chap who goes on about Cricket in the sports thread if so, he makes interesting posts.

Yeah I do.

No offence to you Pinza but this sort of thing isn’t my cup of tea, sorry for commenting.
So you don’t like history, tradition? And you have no curiosity? You aren’t interested in recalling boring old races or reading about the uncool old greats of the past?
Just as well you’ve no conception of what you’re missing.
August 20, 2010 at 16:51 #313840No worries Pinza.

No worries Pinza.
Alone of the human race, you have no worries. Have you also no guilt at having spoiled this thread for those who were enjoying it? What a shame.

That certainly sounds like the same one to me. The John Arlott(OBE) of The Racing Forum.
The sweet sound of leather against willow on the village green, cucumber sandwiches, a gentle warm breeze wafting over me as I recline in my deck chair …and Nathan Hughes approaches the crease looking his usual confident self with a steely determination in his swagger. The bowler sees no fear in Nathan’s eyes as he hurtles a googly at breakneck speed. "Owzatt" the opposition scream. The umpire confirms the inevitable and Nathan returns to the clubhouse in abject shame and misery.August 20, 2010 at 16:57 #313844No worries Pinza.

You’ll get over it mate.
August 20, 2010 at 16:57 #313845Two others that come to mind, although they don’t match the English Group 1 criterion – Star Appeal in the 1975 Arc was 119-1 on the Pari Mutuel, Hotbee won the Molecomb at Goodwood in 1985 at 100-1.
Today’s venue was also the scene of what I think was the shortest priced winner of an English group race in my lifetime, when Cawstons Pride won the 1970 Lowther Stakes at 8-100 (about 1.12 in BF parlance for the benefit of those young men about town that we seem to be attracting like flies at present).

Another thread ruined by muppets arguing.
Lock this and start a new one about the same topic.

Ah yes, she was an extraordinary beast. Looked more like a camel, but ran like a cheetah. Didn’t quite train on, as I recall, though she did win the 1000 Guineas Trial Stakes as a 3yo.
I’m with the Hip Young Funsters, though, never mind all this boring old 8-100 stuff. As Shakespeare’s Parolles puts it:
"Better a live ass than a dead lion"
.
August 20, 2010 at 17:08 #313848There was only one muppet, Mr Wilson. But he’s apologised so time to move on.
Thought the Trifecta was a bit mean, only £6,300 with two 100/1 shots in first three.August 20, 2010 at 17:18 #313851Im new to the forum, joined a few weeks ago to check something and now regularly use it to find facts etc so read it quite a bit
im only 20 so consider my self young and find threads like this interesting!i actually came on to see what other 100-1 winners thered been n was happy to find a thread about it so dont know what some people have to complain about
the only annoying thing from reading these threads is the person in question complaining who fills the place with pointless opinions speaking out of his pocket and doesnt know what young people want to read on here.some find racing histoy interesting!

ha ha cheers mate.not gonna lie,do love a bet at racing but can enjoy it without easily, had a day without betting tuesday at york and 3 days with and both were equally good!im a hater of pocket talk tho!losing part of the fun, makes winning better
August 20, 2010 at 17:38 #313859Welcome Wether Bee. I used to be young and vibrant like yourself but an excess of fast women and slow horses eventually took their toll on me and now all I have to look forward to in life are interesting threads from the likes of Pinza, which incidentally help to rekindle my memories of days gone by. If it weren’t for the likes of Pinza’s exciting and enthralling threads I just don’t know what I’d do with myself…I might even have to speak to old Mrs Jones sitting in the armchair opposite or Mr Smith here on my left. I’ll have to go now because I can see Nurse looking at me over the top of her Cosmopolitan magazine. Mustn’t get into trouble.
August 20, 2010 at 17:46 #313863cheers conundrum,u expect some older experts with stuff like racing to tut when young ones join so good to be welcome!!
although at meetings i always find the old boys club are the most interesting to have a chat with rahter than most my age who get cocky and think theyv got every winner sorted!
