John Hunt commentating. Fails to notice or mention the favourite was struggling turning for home and was then pulled up. Absolutely terrible commentary.

Before I am accused of pocket talking, I did not have a bet on the race. But I would have thought a commentator should be looking out for the horse lots of punters will have backed.

I thought that Mark Johnson was the commentator.

It was MJ, but he still didn’t mention his struggles towards the end of the race. And he also isn’t able to call the winner when the distances were a neck. Happened in the 1st and 4th race.

They both sound the same to me. ;-)

Apologies to Mr Hunt – but it was still a poor commentary from Johnson. Maybe he was missing the fact he couldn’t say “They’re in the gate” before the start?

Johnson and Hunt are alike because they never mention the jockeys’ colours when calling a race , possibly to disguise the fact that they may be calling the wrong horse .The commentaries are therefore dull and uninformative .

I usually turn the volume down , especially if Johnson, with his overpowering voice , is the commentator .

Johnson likes to point out which edition of the race is currently run.
Like “As they turn for home in the 15th running of the Martin Pipe Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle….”

And Bartlett likes mentioning the two “shades of something” when referring to a certain color.
