Check out this horse set to run in about half an hours time!

    https://www.racingpost.com/profile/horse/3023370/telhimlisten/form

Will be having his 5th race this month having won the other four! Makes his chase debut today against one other rival and the horse is 14lbs well in! Top work from trainer Jennie Candlish! He even had 3 runs in the span of 4 days last week and obviously won all of them lol!

I know nothing about horse riding, but surely the jockey cannot let that happen, all he had to do was make sure he stayed onboard

It was Sean Quinlan and not David Maxwell? ;-)

£14,000 done at 1.01 on the favourite!

And a few pounds at 999 on the winner.

Has there ever been a winner that hit 999 in a 2 runner race?

I’ve no idea mate but the more I watch the replay the more I have no idea how Sean Quinlan has made such a living in this game, how can you even fall off there?

The horse was running around a bit and he did jink marginally to one side. But you have got to stay on there. It did not look like anything went wrong with the tack.

Backing long odds on chances is not my idea of fun. But some people do and some punters bet on winning distances with enhanced prices. Unless something comes to light, those punters are entitled to be furious with Quinlan.

For sure Cork, wouldn’t have been betting on that one myself, but can’t blame anyone who did. One things for sure I’ll never back a Sean Quinlan mount, if you can’t trust him to stay on board 30 yards after the final fence with no obvious terrible jump from the horse, then you never can!

Having sat on a horse galloping at full speed, it’s easy to get unbalanced. I’d like to see the head on.

For sure befair I can imagine it is, but literally his only job in those few seconds was to stay on board, seemed more intent on whipping the horse with the reign coming up to the last rather than ensuring he was/could stay balanced. Distracted himself with his over-exuberance when there was completely no need.

The horse made a mess of the last. He jinks very slightly left. Quinlan continues riding for a few strides and then falls off to the right.

No matter how you look at the incident it is a very soft way to fall off. Punters are entitled to expect better from a jockey than that. I don’t see how anyone can excuse it.

SSR are trying to suggest he lost an iron but it does not look like he did to me. It does not look like the saddle slipped either.

Having said all that, I am glad Quinlan appears to be OK. He held on to the reins and was fortunate not to get trampled under the horse’s hooves.

Yes, CAS. I was watching it on YouTube as well. The ATR commentator (I think it must be Bartlett) still doesn’t believe that Quinlan came off the horse. No matter from what angle you look at it, it is very strange.

    Its a strange one
the horse jinks left a little and the jockey weight is to the right but it just looks a bit of an unnatural fall

    “Sedgefield 1.40
    Grey Skies
    Win
All things considered. Not a soul selection for there is very little sound basis to justify opposing the jolly here.
But surely going with a heavily odds on shot who has never jumped a fence means the men in white coats will reach for the money buyers first before the dreamers here.
Despite being two stone wrong to his much vaunted rival here, Grey Skies is not a hopeless case at all.
He’s had wind surgery and with a decent jockey on board he might just get to the front and stay there. Better still he may be able to sit in behind and force the issue with a decent round of jumping.
This stiff two miles will likely be sharp enough for both horses and it’s grey Skies hurdle record in class threes which does it for me.
For all the weight advantage the favourite still has to show he is up to the grade having won his hurdles in class five.
The reality of the task is having to conceed so much weight but the 11/4 or 3/1 is well worth seeing if he can pull off a shock here.
The trainer of TELLHIMLISTEN might as well find out how he copes in this race and pick up the free money on offer then later on with cover of other runners he will be better off at the weights in a proper handicap with a race under the belt. In a handicap of several runners the experts would be telling you this odds on favourite was out of the handicap….”

    Also flagged up last night.
