Stables used to be lucky to have “a Derby horse”; even greats like Vincent O’Brien, Henry Cecil, Michael Stoute and Dick Hern would consider themselves fortunate to have one genuine Epsom candidate a year.
Coolmore now have at least a dozen of them every season. Well done for their success, from a pure business perspective, but from a racegoer’s viewpoint it’s bloody boring.
