Personally I believe that nwalton makes a valid, and quite easy to understand point.
I don’t want to get involved in this war, but if a British base, has as you say Glad
had one drone that got through there defense systems, this means that more than one
drone was fired at the British base. It’s not a question that parliament, or the armed
forces would have any problem answering. If the presence of a British war ship does
nothing more than discourage any further such like attacks then it serves it’s purpose.
If, god forbid, Iran attack the British Base, which is on British Soil, the ship was sent
to protect soldiers on British soil. hopefully this will prevent further attacks, but if not
(and the last thing we want to do is enter the war fully) then we have the firepower to take
out whatever or wherever the attack is coming from.

This whole shebang could have been sorted with the US and Iran talking to comr to a mutual
agreement. If Trump included that if they are proved to have, or attempting to make nuclear
arms, then decisive military strikes would be the consequence. Unfortunately Trump wants to
show they are the biggest (which they are) Military force on the planet. As for Isreal, I
think Netanyahu Want to take back the lands surrounding Isreal and has a hatred of Arab/Muslim
countries and not only is he prepared to kill as many, he already has done. He should be standing
trial in the Hague.
