To be perfectly honest I do not understand the need for tape at the start anyway, if the race has a false start the tape is sprung to stop horse/jockey getting caught up in it so would it matter if it wasn’t there in the first place? Heck, they ended up starting one race today by flag instead of reattaching the tape after a false start.
To me they should reconfigure all the starts that horses have to come around a bend so that it is a straight line into the start, so those on the outside don’t have to go faster than those on the inside to keep up – in big field that is the biggest issue causing these false starts.
