Southport’s match has been called off. It is reported the ground is unsafe due to damage sustained during the high winds.
I find that rather surprising. It hasn’t been particularly windy in Liverpool, even down by the Waterfront. It can get quite breezy around Haig Avenue (as it was on Saturday) but it must have been really severe to render the ground unfit.
I don’t expect Buxton were relishing a journey over the Cat and Fiddle. And a postponement isn’t too bad for Southport either. It is a chance to get over all the travelling and to rest before the Trophy clash with Fylde.
