Sounds like a good sensible decision to call off racing today. I am not too far away from Cheltenham and the winds are very bad. Public safety has to come first simple as that, you cant race horses with loads of temporary structures that could potentially fly all over the place and kill people and horses.
If they went with racing today and people died at Cheltenham as well as horses being hit with missiles, then everyone would be saying what a ridiculous decision it was to go ahead with the meeting and it would be bad for racings image.
Its cancelled on the advice of the police. If the police tell you to cancel the days racing then you simply have to cancel it. You dont have a choice in the matter.
Its a bit annoying but just one of those things. Deal with it and move forward.
The reason that barely any 5yos have run in the champ chase is because it is not a wise move to put an inexperienced horse in Cheltenhams fastest run chase.
Nicholls admitted he made a mistake by putting Kauto in the race as an inexperienced 6yo and he will likely be made to admit it was an even bigger mistake to put the 5yo in the race.
Will be nice to see him win as its always nice to witness history being made, but unfortunately the horse may fall and die.
Sounds extremely harsh thing to say but, horses will almost certainly die at this years festival from falls. and the 5yo in the champ chase would be the one you could pick out before hand as being a likely victim. That will have some of you in tears and calling me all sorts of names, but what I say is actually quite true.
The champion chase is no place for a 5yo and I just hope he lives to tell the tale. It could turn out to be an awful decision to run him here.
I agree with Carvills Voyy Pur is a rock solid e/w bet and is the horse to beat.
Kauto Star was 6 when he unseated in the Champion Chase. He’d have run in the Arkle as a 5yo but for injury.
Then that highlights the severity of this 5yos task even more. kauto couldnt do it as a 6yo and I will be astounded if this 5yo can do it.
Beating one rival was a great performance. His task tomorrow is an altogether different one. Jumping will be put under great strain and there are quite a few horses in this race.
Im not sure of the winner but the 5yo is the first one I have crossed out. (Katchitt was the first one I crossed out of the CH to be fair, but a 5yo does win the CH every once in a blue moon)
I was extremely impressed with the horse when he beat Voy Pur. However his jumping will be tested and I would advise a place lay to compliment your win bet. As this has faller written all over him.
Kauto Star isnt a 5yo?
He fell in this race I think when he was a 5yo and fav.
No 5yo in history has ever won the race.
Nicholls horses may nhave gone off the boil at justy the wrong time also.If he wins then he goes down in history as the best 5yo chaser ever in racing history. He may well turn out to be the best ever 5yo chaser, but he wont be carrying any of my money. Good luck though.
I think his hurdling was awful today. Wasnt fluent and hit plenty. With a better round of hurdling and a good jump at the last then things could have been oh so different. He stays and was in good shape I think. Just his hurdling let him down today.
Still it is the champion hurdling and he who hits his hurdles or doesent jump them fast is not going to win.
I couldnt have backed Katchit with counterfeit beforehand but hats off to him for outbattling them all.
There would not be a case. All you can ask is for Blu Sq to pay out on the bet. If they refuse then your son loses. You wont be winning any legal case, so just have to hope Blu Sq have the decency to pay out, but that is totally at there own discretion.
Oddschecker have a disclaimer saying they cant be held responsible for anything that happens. So no getting any money from Oddschecker.
Blu Sq did contact your son to ask him before the race. Although it is an unfortunate incident, you dont have a leg to stand on in terms of getting paid out on the bet legally.
Only option is be nice and polite to Blu Sq and try and talk them into paying out. Do not threaten them with action as they will laugh at you and say bring it on, if you become aggressive. They either will or they wont but it cant hurt to try.
2:00 – PASCO
2:35 – MARODIMA
3:15 – AFSOUN
4:00 – BOB HALL
4:40 – NATIVE JACK
5:20 -METAPHORICGood luck all.
I would think you will be able to get 7/2 on betfair on Sizing Europe before the race tomorrow as I expect him to drift.
Or you could always wait and take the 1000.00 in running.

The launching of the first ever horse satellite!"Is anyone aware of a previous champion hurdle winner who fell in the same season he won the champion hurdle?
I have looked back over the last 10 years and no winner had fallen in the same season they won the CH. That has to be a big bad omen for Sizing Europe backers as Sizing Europe has already hit the deck, back in October. I noticed that the legendary Istabraq was sent off 2/1 fav for the race in 2002, that was a season when he fell, he ended up being pulled up.
The more I look at the race the more confident I become. I may well increase stakes for my three. Afzoooooooooom just keeps looking better and better and better. Micky Fitzgerald, Nicky Henderson and Afsoun – a winning combination. Disregard the profiles at your displeasure.
The gold cup is a one horse rac
Kauto Star is that horse. If he jumps he wins.
Thanks Aragon good luck to you also.
The way I see things is if I was not confident then why would I bother to have a bet. Im so confident about the winner coming from Sublimity, Afsoun and Catch Me that I will be backing up my opinion with serious money.
Basically this race will be my biggest stake in the last 2 years. I will be splitting that stake on the three horses so that the winnings is the same whichever one wins.
Before anyone asks me to reveal my biggest ever stake, let me point out that this is a pointless excersise.
For all anyone knows I could be a multi millionaire and a 5k bet is neither here nor there, then again, I could be on the dole and a £10 bet could be a massive punt for me. Its the internet I can tell you whatever I like.
Instead I choose not to reveal any ammounts except to guarantee you that this is my biggest punt for years. Confidence is sky high. Afsoun, Catch Me or Sublimity.
I will be doing handstands and screaming when one of my boys puts the race to bed.
I dont normally get excited about any bet, win or lose, I tend to keep a poker face but this bet, boy aint I excited and I wont be wrong.
I can guarantee everybody that I wont be coming on this thread after one of my 3 horses has won saying I told you so.
I have said my piece pre race and all the talking will be done in the race itself. I will have no need to say anything after the race.
I wish everyone luck who has a bet in the race but must once again warn you if your selection is not one of the magic 3 then you are destined to taste defeat.

I think some of your points Zoso are well made but why make these rediculous comments? They do not do you any good Zoso.
Ginge
Oops I did it again. Oh my.

Sublimity – Defending champion, this years run was actually much stronger form than his run before he won the CH last year. He is the champ and he is the horse to beat.
Afsoun – To finish just over 3 lengths behind the champ as a lowly 5yo in this race last year, is rock solid form. BEat Straw Bear who was 100% last race, is in form. As a 6yo he can come of age in this race. This is a very exciting runner in this years race and I am delighted that absolutely no one is giving him a squeak this year. Twas the same last year with Sublimity, no chance they all told me. I was on the winner though.
Catch Me – Like Afsoun has the perfect profile of a Champion hurdle winner. The greatest jockey on board only strengthens confidence.
These 3 horses are unlikely to finish 1st, 2nd and 3rd but I could almost put my life on it that the winner will be one of these 3 horses. The champion hurdle is not a race I like to leave behind and thankfully I have found the winner once again. You can either choose to ridicule me and end up not having the winner of the great race, or you can get involved with these 3 horses and be on the winner like me.
Everyone who disagrees with me will be proven wrong. Sizing Europe will be comprehensively beaten and will be sent chasing after this.
Well if you’re choosing to ignore the AIG as your post suggests (which is pretty much laughable in itself),
I have corrected my mistake. That was laughable to not count the AIG as a grade 1 race when of course it is. The song remains the same though and Sizing Europe wont win. Winner is Afsoun, Sublimity or Catch Me, it really is as simple as that. Dont waste your money on any other horse.
