Thanks for the responses, at least I know Lyreen Wonder recovered to some extent.

I was assuming it was him that took the horrible fall when loose at the fourth last as he never ran again, but reading the article I’m not so sure and it looks like it was another horse?

Hope someone can clear something up for me about the reserves, how they are determined and refunds on ante-post bets. It doesn’t affect me this year but would be good to know for the future.

I noticed that although some horses just out of the 40 (let’s take Merigo as an example) were above Giles Cross in the handicap, the latter got into the race as 4th reserve. My question is do the connections of horses that would be the reserves get to choose if they take up that option?

Also, I’ve not seen it mentioned anywhere that Merigo was actually withdrawn rather than confirmed at the 48 hour stage, so if his connections had declined the offer of a reserve place are they then considered withdrawn (in which case ante-post bets would be lost) or balloted out (and ante-post bets Refunded)?
