Can’t believe Ropey Guest made in there BB, pleased with that.
He’s one I’m really looking forward to next year.

I actually posted on another forum about this horse, complaining that this is a horse that runs in group races and hasn’t even won a race, not even a maiden.

I see that he entered on Saturday, 28 September 2019 – 1:50 (Early closer) at Newmarket Juddmonte Royal Lodge Stakes (Group 2) (1m), do you think that the connections think a lot about this horse and maybe might be aiming a little too high, the old adage used to be, win your maiden first.

Can you imagine what would have happened if the BHA and heath and safely were about during Roman time, Judah Ben Hur would have been called before the stewards for overuse of the whip and dangerous riding, and given a thousand-year ban.

Earthlight (4:35 Deauville Sun) went to the top of my 2yo speed figures with a figure of 79, Charlie Appleby runner up Well Of Wisdom earned a figure of 63.

The 6:20 at Leopardstown has a very good yardstick in Noel Meade’s Perry Owens who earned a speed figure of 57 from me, if any horse finshes in front of him, you can class them as potential pattern horses as a debut speed figure of 57 is very good in my book.

The official going description was given as good, I had it at +0.29s/f (good to firm).

You only had to look at the so called new course record set by the 3yo Dame Malliot in the 2:40, what was remarkable she only carried 8-5 over a distance that was +21yds (1.4s) due to rail movements.

As the original comparison per furlong time was slow by 0.72s, taking into account the extra 21yds adjustment, you are now looking at a comparison per furlong time of fast by -0.68s/f.

The majority of racing pundits do not understand going allowances at all, if you accept the clerk of the course going description of good, then Ed Vaughan has Pegasus on his hands, if I was heavily sedated I could go along with this.

MAN OF THE NIGHT

Darren for a hype horse all he did was win a very weak race, on the clock the his performance was aweful, so much so, Top Speed assessed the performance at 40 (including RP WFA) which makes the performave no better than a selling plater.

My assesment was to award a speed figure of 31 (No WFA), I will be very surprised if he ever earns any black type, I hope I am wrong.

It was a major WTF moment when I was looked at the 2yo race at RIpon last night, the time Spartan Fighter and the runner up A’Ali acheived was just not possible on the official good to soft going description, I made it good to firm.

It’s the runner up A’Ali that has got be excited, so much so, his speed figure of 65 put’s him right up there with the best seen out so far, with this race under his belt, it is going to take a good one to beat him.

Sunday Sovereign’s 7L romp at Tiperary yesterday puts this colt at the top of the fastest 2yo’s seen out so far this season earning a speed figure from me of 68.
I could have marked the speed figure earned by this colt even higher, the problem I faced was, the official race distances have too be taken with a big pinch of salt.

SUNDAY SOVEREIGN, an impressive winner of a 6f maiden at the Curragh last time, he had no trouble dropping back to the minimum trip and made light work of the opposition, making all and going futher and further clear inside the final furlong. He has plenty of options, but the Norfolk at Royal Ascot appears the be the main aim, according to his trainer.

Impressive Curragh 8L 2yo winner, Arizona shoots to the top of my speed figures

ARIZONA took the anticipated step forward from his debut over course and distance. Ridden positively, Ryan Moore had no problem sending him on at halfway and you would have to love the way he hit the line. The Chesham was mentioned as a possible target afterwards and an extra furlong would be right up his street. Should the Coventry become his aim, for which he is a 10-1 shot with Boylesports, he would have a massive chance too. This was impressive and you could argue it was the best display we have seen by a 2yo in any maiden this season.
