    Hi Isinglass..

    yes, thats mine…

i would still like to have seen something for 1850 and Abd El Kader’s first win for Mr Wilson…. i have scribbled in an old book that it was purple and yellow cap, but i have left it with yellow and black as i cannot find proof anywhere! ….one for a future poster revision

i enjoyed it so much i have moved onto the Cheltenham Gold Cup now….

folks, i know you have all been a great help on this thread before about owners colours and i wonder if you can help me?

I am compiling a chart of Grand National, Grand Liverpool and War National winners and i am looking for some help with the last few niggly ones!

I am aware of the excellent work over at jockeycolours.com, but i am also aware throough my own research that there are a few errors in that list of silks. for example, Wanderer’s colours were Pink with a black cap, and Drogheda was yellow and blue hoops with a blue cap….I also dont agree with Pathfinder, Vermouth or Seaman and a few others….

So I am down to just around 4 I cannot find the evidence to support…so can anyway help?

1838 Sir William was owned and ridden by Allan McDonough, but his colours are in Ruff’s in three different forms… scarlet, white with scarlet buttons and cap, and yellow with scarlet buttons and cap

Pioneer, owned by Mr Adams is routinely shown as blue with a black cap, but I cannot find any source for the silks

The Huntsman was owned by Victome de Namur, but the painting of him was pre this ownership and so I cannot find any evidence of the Victome’s colours

There is also a little debate as to whether Come Away was dark blue or black with yellow stars, and as to the colour of Edward Studd’s cap on his Salamander

1880 was Empress, again always shown as black with red buttons, sleeves and cap… I cannot find Pierre Ducrot’s colours described…i suspect he was actually Captain Peter Ducrot and that Pierre is an erro that slipped in somewhere in the dim and distant past

I am also keen to show the horse as well as the silks in the illustrations…. but for 7 horses, i cannot find a single drawing or painting of them anywhere….has anyone come across Jealousy, Bourbon, Miss Mowbray, Mathew, Pioneer, Charity or Empress anywhere?

I would be so greatful for any help in completing the project.

    Scott
