FRENCH turned up at York last week looking the biggest strongest filly in the field, but i did wonder if she had been dropped in at the deep end, and this proved to be the case, but i still think physically she is upto winning races at a lesser level.

RAVENHOE also showed up at York but had a tough task of conceding 10lb to a good looking sort AREEN this Kevin Ryan trained 2 year old finished in front of RAVENHOE and is a definite for the note book and could go on to be something special id give AREEN **

Another Ryan 2 year old that caught my eye was WHITE BULLET who also ran at York, in the paddock he looked like he would come on for the race and ran on strongly to finish 3rd, one for the note books.

A 3 year old maiden again trained by Kevin Ryan who is a very imposing sort was a definite paddock eyecatcher at Ripon on Sunday, there was a question mark about the colt staying the 1m 1f distance, but im not doubting his staying ability more the fact that he will perform better on a flat track, it looked to me that the Ripon undulations unbalanced this strong big striding horse, so much so he bumped the rail not far from the finish, he was beaten closely by a Godolphin horse and i think COUNT MONTECRISTO will go on to win races

BOSSIPOP nice type physically 2 year old maiden but green as grass in the pre parade ring, needs to mature mentally but one that could go onto win once he does mature mentally
    trained by Tim Easterby

POSTULANT 3 year old maiden nice strong filly dwelt at the start at Redcar yesterday, but one that looks like could win very soon trained by R. Fahey

The best looking 2 year old ive seen so far this season is FLAMING SPEAR*** trained by Kevin Ryan ridden by Ryan Moore, this awesome looking horse looked like a three year old physically in a 2 year old race at York on July 12th he won well and i think he will go on to better things.

I will be updating the 2 year old list on Monday.

2 of this year’s maidens ran yesterday in their handicaps and both finished 2nd.

DRAGLINE at 20-1 ran in his first nursery at Haydock and was beaten just a neck by the Richard Hannon horse.

QUEENS PARK at 5-1 ran in her first handicap at Beverley and was beaten 1/2 length by the Richard Fahey trained favourite.

2 year old EYECATCHERS to add to the list:

HOME CUMMINS trained by R. Fahey ridden by Tony Hamilton won well at Redcar 21st June 7f going g/f – nice type, but green and immature a filly to follow.

ARTREUS – trained by M. Easterby ridden by Danielle Moony, did well to finish 3rd from the worse draw at Thirsk 23rd June 6f going g/f
A big strong colt who looked like he would need the race, one who could be winning races soon, or one to consider in his nursery.

UPWARD TREND – trained by T. Easterby ridden by David Allen finished mid field but was running on at Thirsk 23rd June 6f going g/f, Tim Easterby’s 2 year old often come on well for their first run, a nice type in the paddock may be one to consider next time out or in its nursery.

GEORGE BOWEN – trained by R. Fahey ridden by Tony Hamilton won well at Carlisle 6f going g/f on 25th June, nice strong colt edgy in the paddock but should go on win more races especially if settles more in the preliminaries.

FAST ACT – trained by Kevin Ryan ridden by Jamie Spencer won well at Carlisle 5f going g/f a nice big strong colt who obviously improved for faster going.

GEORDIE GEORGE trained by J. Quinn ridden by Philip Makin, finished second to a newmarket horse at Newcastle g/f 6f, he had previously won well in heavy going so this was a good performance, a nice looking colt who looks like he could win over 6 or 7 furlongs.

SUREWECAN trained by M. Johnson won well at Hamilton July 1st 6f – a lovely looking colt looks the type who will be winning again especially over 7f.

CRYSTAL WISH trained by Kevin Ryan ridden by K. Stott finished 3rd to a William Haggas horse at Catterick July 2nd going g/f it appeared that the better ground brought about improvement, a nice big strong type who could go on to win

Of the 57 maidens on my list last year the results for them this year mainly as 3 year olds are as follows:

    39 have run so far
    22 WINNERS (including a 50-1 winner and a 20-1 winner)- 5 SECONDS – 12 LOST – 19 YET TO RUN

So its worth following the 2 year old maidens of last year as 3 year olds this season.

Over the next couple of days i will posting an updated list of all the horses from last year.

QUEENS PARK WON TODAY AT 7-1 at Carlisle the better ground obviously suited, a big strong filly looks the type able to win more races, it all depends next time on how the handicapper treats her after an easy win today.

An EYECATCHER i saw at Catterick – going soft – 6th June was FULLON CLARETS trained by R. Fahay ridden by T. Hamilton, this 2 year old colt is a nice strong looking type, who ran well on his debut to finish a close second, and one who should be winning races this year.

One of the best looking 2 year olds ive seen in the north so far this season physically is the Tim Easterby trained SAKHEES RETURN ridden by Duran Fentiman at Carlisle today going good to firm, he stayed on strongly to win by 2 lengths, this colt should be winning more races this year.

Yesterday one of the 3 year olds on my list which i updated last week THE GREY GATSBY WON the French Derby at 12-1!

Listed below are the horses that have caught my eye in the last two weeks – TO ENSURE YOU DONT MISS ANY WHEN THEY RUN, IF YOU SET UP RACEHORSE TRACKER ON ATTHERACES SITE, THIS SENDS YOU EMAIL REMINDERS THE DAY BEFORE THE HORSES ARE DUE TO RUN TOGETHER WITH A TIMEFORM COMMENT.

MIGNOLINO a 2 year old trainer by D. Barron ridden by G. Gibbons looked the part in the parade ring and went on to win well at York in soft ground, looks like he will be winning again

MYSTIC AND ARTIST trained by K Burke ridden by D. Tudhope was an eyecatcher in the parade ring, ran green was slowly away and soon outpaced but when he got the hang of it picked up well and kept on in the final furlong one to consider. Ran at Thirsk 5f good (g/s in places)

BACALL a filly trained by Kevin Ryan ridden by T. Eaves, nice type physically ran green pulled hard, could do well if matures and learns to settle. Thirsk 5f good (g/s in places)

VIA VIA trained by Clive Brittain ridden by K. Fallon looked nice type physically pushed along midfield eased won easily one to follow. Ripon 6f good.

PROPHESIZE nice type trained by N. Quinlan ridden by P Cosgrove tracked leaders stayed on strongly to win well, one to look out for. Redcar 6f good to firm (good in places)

SOUL BROTHER nice type trained by Tim Easterby ridden by David Allan made all and quickened pulling clear looks the type that will be winning again. Newcastle 5f going good.

I will be updating my 2 year olds to follow tomorrow, however 2 on my list for this year are running today against each other : FIRGROVE BRIDGE and MIDTERM BREAK at 3.40 Beverley.

One of my favourite 2 year old horses physically last year was HOT STREAK he is potentially a very exciting 3 year old sprinter he is running today in the 2.40 Haydock.

Will be updating 2 year old list on Monday, however one currently on the list runs today at Thirsk 2.15 ZEELA trained by Tim Easterby really caught the eye in the paddock at Pontefract and finished a very close second.

The 2 year old EYECATCHERS of last season continue to do well with THE GREY GATSBY winning the DANTE at York.

Ive no 2 year olds to report on this week yet, however as happened last year i am noticing some of the horses id flagged up as 2 year olds are going on to do well as 3 year olds, i judge my horses on their physical and mental capability to win, i noticed watching tv yesterday how big and strong THE HOODED CLAW looked, he was on my list last year and has strengthened up even more and he won well at Chester at 6-1.

Today another one on my 2 year old list last year runs today at Chester SEE THE SUN at 3.15 he has won on gd to soft going and is one to consider today.

Yesterday QUEENS PARK WAS A NON RUNNER, but one to consider when she is next runs, DRAGLINE had a disadvantaged draw in stall 2 and gave himself a harder task veering left when leaving the stalls, HOT STREAK FINISHED 3RD at Newmarket a very promising start to his season and one definitely to follow this year.

One EYECATCHER yesterday at Thirsk going good g/f in places, CAPTAIN COLBY a typical strong looking Kevin Ryan 2 year old gelding ridden by Tom Eaves made all kept on well looked useful and should go on to win more races.
