In the last week there wasnt anything that caught my eye until Ripon on Thursday there were two horses i liked in the 5f 2 year old maiden, the going was good.
MIDTERM BREAK trained by David Barron ridden by G. Gibbons, a nice strong colt, ran promising to finish second and is one to consider in a similar race.
COLLOSIUM trained by M. Dodds ridden by Connor Beasley really caught my eye in the paddock a nice strong type who ticked lots of the boxes, had a disadvantaged draw but ran on well to finish close third, looks the type who could do well in sprint races at a similar level
April 27, 2014 at 16:00 #477066This thread did really well last year Eyecatcher – looking forward to following it again through 2014.
May 3, 2014 at 08:22 #477746Maiden Eyecatchers ive seen in the last week are:
Ripon Saturday 26th SATELLITE a 3 year old trained by W. Haggas ridden by G Gibbons, nice looking type in the paddock, this colt was slowly away, then pulled hard mid race which often leads to a horse having little left at the end of a race, but this horse found plenty and won easily pulling away – one to follow!
Pontefract Wednesday 30th April FIRGROVE BRIDGE a typical Kevin Ryan sprinting 2 year old, nice strong colt who caught the eye physically in the paddock, but did appear a bit immature and was sweating up, however did look to settle at the start, ridden by Paul Mulrennan showed plenty of speed going on to win, one that may go on to win more races, one to follow
In the same Pontefract race a really good looking filly caught my eye in the parade ring ZEELA trained by Tim Easterby ridden by Duran Fentiman unlike Firgrove Bridge she was calm and in the parade ring but a real eyecatcher physically she dwelt in the stalls but travelled strongly to finish close second, i feel she will win races.
May 3, 2014 at 08:31 #477750RUNNERS TODAY:
DRAGLINE runs at 1.55 at Thirsk in the 5f Maiden drawn 2 can be a disadvantage at this track.
QUEENS PARK runs at 5.50 at Thirsk this looks a hotter race than the Newcastle maiden as with all these maidens when judging them in the paddock, it all depends on what else turns up on the day, but physically she looked like she was strong enough to win a race, whether it be soon or when she goes handicapping.
2 of my 2 year old eyecatchers from last year are running today at Newmarket HOT STREAK a horse i was really impressed with physically runs at 2.40 current price 5-1 and THE GREY GATSBY a big strong grey Kevin Ryan horse has a huge task running in the 2000 Guineas at 3.50 current price 50-1
May 3, 2014 at 09:42 #477770MIDTERM BREAK flagged up in a post on 22nd April WON at Southwell on Wednesday 30th a very short price but a winner all the same!!
May 4, 2014 at 14:24 #478036Yesterday QUEENS PARK WAS A NON RUNNER, but one to consider when she is next runs, DRAGLINE had a disadvantaged draw in stall 2 and gave himself a harder task veering left when leaving the stalls, HOT STREAK FINISHED 3RD at Newmarket a very promising start to his season and one definitely to follow this year.
One EYECATCHER yesterday at Thirsk going good g/f in places, CAPTAIN COLBY a typical strong looking Kevin Ryan 2 year old gelding ridden by Tom Eaves made all kept on well looked useful and should go on to win more races.
May 9, 2014 at 10:12 #478452Ive no 2 year olds to report on this week yet, however as happened last year i am noticing some of the horses id flagged up as 2 year olds are going on to do well as 3 year olds, i judge my horses on their physical and mental capability to win, i noticed watching tv yesterday how big and strong THE HOODED CLAW looked, he was on my list last year and has strengthened up even more and he won well at Chester at 6-1.
Today another one on my 2 year old list last year runs today at Chester SEE THE SUN at 3.15 he has won on gd to soft going and is one to consider today.
May 17, 2014 at 09:13 #479292Will be updating 2 year old list on Monday, however one currently on the list runs today at Thirsk 2.15 ZEELA trained by Tim Easterby really caught the eye in the paddock at Pontefract and finished a very close second.
The 2 year old EYECATCHERS of last season continue to do well with THE GREY GATSBY winning the DANTE at York.
May 24, 2014 at 10:29 #480005I will be updating my 2 year olds to follow tomorrow, however 2 on my list for this year are running today against each other : FIRGROVE BRIDGE and MIDTERM BREAK at 3.40 Beverley.
One of my favourite 2 year old horses physically last year was HOT STREAK he is potentially a very exciting 3 year old sprinter he is running today in the 2.40 Haydock.
