It seems that Henry Daly pressed the wrong button when declaring Crucial Role a non runner. He is in fact very much alive!
Nice to have some positive news after the number of fatalities in the last couple of days! 😊

Sad to read this. Fakenham is my nearest NH track and I used to love seeing this little horse jumping round there. Nice to see he enjoyed his retirement but sad it was cut short by the dreaded colic

I don’t always agree with some of the things you put on here RubyLight, but in this case I agree completely. It was obvious that the horse had died and to ignore this and pretend it hasn’t happened is to treat the horse as if it didn’t matter. All horses matter, regardless of their level of ability or financial worth, and should be treated as such.

I was in the centre of the course at Cheltenham near the fence when Matuhi fell. The vets did work on him for around 40 minutes and I was hoping all the time that they were going to be able to save him, but sadly this was not the case. I guess if the severity of the injury is not immediately obvious, then it is a tough call for the vets on how long they try to save a horse when it could be causing more distress to the animal. On the other hand, if Matuhi had been able to be saved, then we would all be applauding the vets efforts. Such a shame that their efforts were not rewarded on this occasion :( :(

I personally don’t have a problem with dress codes and tend to dress differently depending on the course/enclosure I am visiting – wellies and scarf and gloves at freezing Fakenham and smarter dress and shoes etc at places such as Newmarket or Ascot (being a female I would look a bit daft in a shirt and tie!) My 12 year old son comes racing with my husband and I a fair bit and is already keen on the dressing up smart side of the experience… after all, we get so little chance to dress smartly nowadays – and there is always the option of other enclosures if you don’t want to go posh :)

I also tried to find that, BHA told me Wetherby’s tracks those records but they don’t have it on PDF or anything like IRE but somebody will look into it they told me.

Thanks Yoshi – please let us know on here if you do hear anything back from Wetherbys … it would be really helpful

Although it is sad to read the HRI lists, it is good that we are able to trace what has happened to the Irish horses. Does anyone know if there is an English equivalent of this, as I always like to find out if a fallen horse horse is ok and sometimes have to scour the internet if there is no info on Racing Post results…. Thanks

I am also new to this Forum, although I have read the posts on here for some time. I have been a racing fan for a few years now and agree with moehat – you will probably never get used to the falls, but that just means that you care about the horses, which can’t be a bad thing. I also watched the horses lining up for the Betfair Chase and then listened outside the door, before coming back in after the race and rewinding to watch once I knew the horses were all ok, so you are definitely not alone!! :D
