@espmadrid no Virgin is not in HD it is a disgrace that we still have awful SD pictures that are worse than some internet streams, streaming Dubai Racing Channel is a better picture.
All Virgin say is they have continued with the original contract they had with ATR and that the feed is exactly same and won’t change until the contract comes up for renewal whenever that is.
Galway going off 10 mins after schedule it shows they can do it when they want.
@runandskip48 I suspect Irish tv will be showing Galway which means Rtv might be at the mercy of itv and irish schedulers.
Cheltenham inspecting course at 1.15pm
Cheltenham delayed 5 mins per race will go off same time as Galway all afternoon
@philwalker not a chance of Doncaster going ahead been raining all day and forecast to rain until well into tomorrow afternoon none stop
A bit of common sense has happened Kelso 1.20pm now 1.15pm
@philwalker probably the use of wtf we have a lot of snowflakes around these days who dare not be offended.
Saturday wtf is going on with the race schedulers
Kelso & Leopardstown 1.20pm – why doesn’t Kelso go off at 1.15?
Cheltenham 5 mins before Galway all afternoon & Cheltenham have a number of 3m races.
I don’t make a habit of twittering on about sponsors Steve. I don’t use viewing figures as a barometer of my enjoyment of a horse race either.
In my opinion its relatively poor in comparison with the old Newmarket card. I’m not alone.
If you disagree, ok.
It appears that a lot of people who like racing expect every Saturday to be fantastic and full of the best horses and get as excited as Ed Chamberlain who likes to tell viewers every Saturday is “one of the great days in racing”.
Just like every March when the Saturday after Cheltenham happens and it’s never good enough for people.
Not everyday can be great racing.
Despite being on three channels at the same time itv viewing figures surpassed 1 million for yesterday’s Champions Day coverage.
Figures were up 26-38% with last year figures being between 700,00-800,000.
So it seems that it wasn’t a failure just some people on here who think every week should be a classic event.
Who is criticising Ascot? Its the concept as a whole that is being criticised. The calendar has been shifted around to make it happen, and if an improvement was aimed for, it has failed miserably.
The title says “Ascot Champions Day a failureit doesn’t say QIPCO Champions Day a failure
It isn’t Ascot’s champion’s day it’s QIPCO champion’s day so why on earth is Ascot being criticised?
@blackcountrykid Racing UK/Racing tv have always been greedy and wanted all the courses they could get even though they have no room for everything in previous years they took the rights to American racing then got bored with it and gave up they had South African racing rights but never showed any courses now they have Irish racing because they can’t bear the opposition to have it and they are struggling to cope with all the meetings they have.
Maybe if Racing TV concentrated on having the best courses and stopped trying to get one over on SSR then they might have a product people were prepared to buy.
The could be grown up and say hey itv and SSR have Ascot this Saturday we have 5 meetings and will leave it alone but no they have to have everything and will end up split screen with Catterick 5 mins behind.
According to the schedule lists SSR and Rtv are showing Ascot is this the case?
Three channels showing the same course is a bit excessive, Rtv have enough going on next Saturday they don’t need Ascot but they are too greedy to give it up.
Hilarious yesterday Rachel & Nick Luck begging Newmarket’s big race to be delayed as Fairyhouse was running 5 mins late and lucky for them they didn’t get the last horse in until Fairyhouse finished.
Having to sit there with your fingers crossed all afternoon is not how a racing channel should be run they were very very lucky with Newmarket yesterday.
@patriot1 firstly Ruk doesn’t exist it’s Rtv secondly they do go for breaks straight after the race they constantly doing this showing the same promo after numerous races and what makes it more of a disgrace is they are supposed to be a pay channel and not have adverts yet it’s always SkyBet or Coral or a promo for the channel.
Even Rachel boobed last week by saying we will go to Chris Dixon after the break.
@blackcountry Kid Sky can throw as much money as they want the Jockey Club will never ever give the rights to their courses to Sky so Sky can never get their hands on the big courses other than Ascot.
The only way Sky can get the rights is to bid for terrerstrial rights which they have said they will not do and racing authorities are happy with itv.
The best Sky can hope for is to get back Irish racing in 2022 and maybe persuade the Scottish tracks to swap when Musselburgh eventually swaps when it becomes part of Chester Group.
The Yorkshire courses still distrust Sky after the 2000’s debarcle which lead to Ruk and ATR2 being formed.
So the idea Sky can buy racing is not true.
