    Elkridge, I take it, was a US horse born 1938?
    I see he ran 123 chases.

    You can’t compare the number of flat races with steeplechases. Most steeplechasers run just a few times per year. The world record holder for steeplechases run is Blazing Dawn who ran 104 chases, retiring in August 2000, but not completing in the last 6. Feeling Peckish has run 44 chases as is only 7, so has a shot at the record if staying sound. Kinkeel has now run 85 chases and only needs 20 more chase runs to set a new world record.
