Good luck with Trading Leather, today could be the day.

Pitmans Derby……yeah just a watching race i agree, but purely out of interest and to tiny stakes under todays conditions, i have 3 against the field ( yeah i know, but 1 aint enough )

I see Stubbs is out again today in the Railway Stakes at The Curragh on his recovery mission.

Joseph has seemingly deserted him for O`Briens other runner Coach House, who ran really well at Ascot.
Interesting race and i reckon we shall know a fair bit more after today. Stubbs has a fair bit to prove at present though imo.

Best of luck today Ginge, flat season still refuses to take off in earnest yet – maybe today is the day!

I like Producer in the Nmkt 3.30 but i`m guessing it is not value in your own book?

No reason why a racing enthusiast can not "tip" Mount Athos and appreciate Thomas Chippendale. How the !"£$%^&* is that

    "putting the public away"

    ? :?

Most owners might target Royal Ascot, but Mount Athos would’ve been one of the favourites in the Gold Cup (he’s that good). Possibly Britain’s best "stayer". Connections did not want to risk showing their hand to the Australian handicapper, as a return to Melbourne is the Doctor’s main target. So although Mount Athos had the "best form", there were reasons why he might not show that form Gord.

Ginge to have the ability just to understand how these Tipsters minds work is a skill, its like being able to seperate the wood from the trees, you take things far too literally and lack the required mindset in order to evaluate the difference of what people say and what people do.I have that ability,I can tell just by the way people on here write as to what sort of person they are, irrelevant to Horseracing.I have read your work for several years now and you prove that in life just like in your betting you are one who cant think for themselves, you lack confidence thats why you need the likes of Timeform to re-assure you, incidentally both GC and JM are ex-Timeform operatives who also

    depend

strictly on form to assess horses, neither have shown the ability to identify an unexposed talent in a horse as their assessment of the likes of

    Remote

proved the other day.As for laying horses I think all 3 of you would find that a challlenge too far all because you all look at Horses respective chances Mathematically and the thought that a 1/5 shot was layable would be enough for you all to soil your pants!

    Ha ha, simply brilliant Gordie!!

You really do come out with the most outrageous drivel i think i`ve ever read on any open forum anywhere.

Great entertainment value for getting your thread views up, but utter codswallop nonetheless. Full marks to you for the sheer gonads to post it though.

I am lead to believe that Anticipated has been targeted for the Windsor Castle for some while (Hannon senior owns a quarter share)
expecting Sacha Park to go for Coventry, so may well put a spanner in the works here by entering WC.

I would certainly expect a good run from Sacha at a decent price too.

Stubbs in particular, does not have the profile of a typical O`Brien Royal Ascot winner, but what`s in the past is history, so who knows.

Best of luck today Ginge, time to get flat season started!!

Gone with Championship in Coventry personally, a stat bet, which i know you would hate, but out of interest i have listed stat. in Gordie`s thread.

    Morning Gordie.

Bit of fat to chew over concerning the Coventry.

Hannon at Royal Ascot, up to a mile, ridden by Hughes and excluding the Windsor Castle ( never won it yet!)
Ran at Newbury last time out, since 2002:-

    6 wins from 8 qualifiers + 29.33 LSP @ 366.6% ROI.

Looks as though his better horses go in Coventry and lesser lights in the Windsor Castle.

Championship certainly fits the bill, but possibly Anticipated can be opposed.

    Best of luck.

That was unfortunate Ginge, went well Thurs./Fri. then gave it all back and some on Saturday

Did you see Big Bob leading Just The Judge in to the winners enclosure yesterday? Think he`s even bigger than last season, almost dwarfed the horse!!
Mind you from the grin on his face i would say he had a lumpy old bet on her, and to be fair, he was always very sweet on her from the start, and now she`s a Group 1 winner. Well done Bob

A poor day for the Doctor with just one short priced winner in Mount Athos from his 7 runners on Friday , so not profitable this year from the perspective originally laid out.

    Final tally:-

    Early prices -3.8 pts
    BSP -4.76
    SP -6.38

Mind you, on a personal note, he goes away with the Chester Cup and Ormonde Stakes trophies, so all in all a decent meeting for him.

Well Doctor Koukash had 1 winner yesterday from his 8 entries, but a decent winner it was, of the Chester Cup no less.

Yes you`re right Ginge, providing you want to put more time and effort into what is a pretty dodgy selection method.

Just the fact that he does like the meeting, but will have horses entered into whatever he chooses, makes it somewhat random. Mind you, he was mob handed for The Chester Cup and it paid off for him.

If i started to eliminate his runners through filtering, bet your life sods law would kick me in the teeth

Goodwood tomorrow for that dodgy looking card or are you giving it a miss?

Here`s a little more fat to be chewed over – Tom Segals view:-

    Pricewise

    Gatepost just what
    the doctor ordered

CHESTER has become synonymous with Dr Marwan Koukash and he always makes it clear to his trainers that his horses must be primed to the minute every time there is a meeting on the Roodeee, writes Tom Segal.

Today he has eight runners on the card, including four in
the Chester Cup, but the one I want to back is Gatepost in
    the Stellar Group Handicap (3.15).

At first glance you would think five furlongs around Chester, on what promises to be quickish ground, might see him run off his feet early on as he hasn’t run over the trip since his juvenile days, but he showed plenty of pace in some of the better sprint handicaps last season and dropping him in just off the pace over the minimum might be his ideal way of running these days.

Stall four looks good for Gatepost and in Richard Fahey and Jamie Spencer you couldn’t have two better men on your side in a race like this. At 7-1 Gatepost will do for me.

Gatepost was going to be the only selection in the race until the prices came in and I saw Captain Dunne was available at double figures. He’s eight now but is still capable of useful form and he was second in this race off a 9lb higher mark two years ago. If he hits the traps running I think he will be able to get the lead on the rail and that is always a big advantage at this track over five furlongs.

Obviously the worry is whether Tim Easterby’s gelding will be fully wound up for this reappearance, but his trainer won the race 12 months ago and I have no doubt he will have targeted the race for Captain Dunne.

In the Chester Cup I found it really hard to think outside the box and go against the obvious as the two with the outstanding chances head the market.

Both Countrywide Flame and Justification would appreciate any rain that falls, but both still appear the horses who could be a long way ahead of their handicap marks and the call just has to be Justification at around the 5-1 mark.

The fact Aidan O’Brien kept an 83-rated handicapper in his yard as a five-year-old speaks volumes about the ability he has shown at home and it is surely significant he holds entries in both the Coronation Cup and Ascot Gold Cup.

On his reappearance he must have made up about 25 lengths on the enterprisingly ridden leader in a short space of time and seemed to win with an awful lot in hand.

Justification is up 8lb for that Leopardstown win but I still can’t believe that a mark of 91 is anywhere near his ceiling and, furthermore, he is coming out of stall three and Ryan Moore has chosen him over Simenon, who could be well fancied on last year’s
Flat form. The track and possibly very fast ground would be unknowns for Justification, but I will be extremely surprised if he’s not very competitive.

If Justification gets held up in traffic, which can always happen around Chester, then Countrywide Flame will be hard to catch from the front.

He made all to win at this track last year, ran really well in the Cesarewitch and has seemingly improved again over hurdles. However, he couldn’t beat Aaim To Prosper despite getting loads of weight at Newmarket and might be biting off more than he can chew with Justification.

    Today’s bets

    Justification
    2.45 Chester
1pt win at 6-1 with Hills (5-1 generally)

    Justification
    Chester – 14:45
    4

    Gatepost
    3.15 Chester
1pt win at 7-1 Boylesports and Corals

    Captain Dunne
    3.15 Chester
    1pt win at 12-1 generally

    Captain Dunne
    Chester – 15:15
    8
