Although i had Grandouet (another faller) thought the Fly winning was excellent. However my highlight was the machine that is The New One, next years Champion Hurdle Winner
Just like to say well done to Bobs Worth, connections and all who backed him. I was on Silviniaco Conti and again it’s what could have been! Hopefully back next year to show how good he really is.
I’m with you Young Fella, it’s got to be Back In Focus. THink he’s the class act in the race. However, word of caution, I had a shocker today
Pleased for Hurricane Fly, the horse dug deep today to win an excellent Champion Hurdle. However, gutted for Grandouet and Barry Geraghty who were travelling like the wind when he fell and would surely have been in the shake up at the end .
Concerned over the wellbeing of Grandouet Twice he has been a massive drifter on Betfair in the last month or so. No reassuring comments from Henderson or Geraghty, other than the bland statement "went a good gallop and it was all good". Personally i’d be looking for a bit more than that on a Champion Hurdle hopeful!
Noel Meade says Monksland unlikely to run in the World Hurdle. The horse has suffered a setback.
true but I do change my mind a lot
Aye EGS1, next you’ll be changing your mind over your Dark Horse and giving us My Tent Or Yours
I see the frost stopped Grondouet from having a racecourse gallop this morning. How many setbacks can a horse have in the run up to Cheltenham? Hopefully be able to gallop tomorrow and all systems go for the Champion
Ok, so following on from previous posts, my best bet at the festival would be Captain Conan in the Jewson. Don’t think he was fully wound up at Sandown and Nicky will have him spot on for his big day!
Got to agree, it’s The Fly for me!
I followed him in 2011 and last year but think with the likes of Zarkandar, Rock on Ruby and Grandouet he’s up against better horses this year.
Also, read Willie Mullins comments after his prep race last year when he said "My first reaction is it might be his best ever performance.". This year Wilie says "he’s back to his very best". Don’t see much difference in the comments and feel the result could be the same.
Well that looks like my AP on Lac Fontana is floating down the Suwannee
Can’t fathom this race at all as don’t think the favourites have the right profile to win, so maybe go for Kashmir Peak or just stick a pin in the paper and hope for the best
Hopefully the Adonis Hurdle on Saturday will see a performer capable of shaking up the Triumph market. Looks a decent field with the likes of Lac Fontana, Chris Pea Green & L’Unique declared (think Irish Saint will go for the Dovecote).
Looks like a difference of opinion between Andy Stewart and Paul Nicholls. PN seems to be favouring the same Aintree route with Rocky Creek as he did with Silviniaco Conti.
Peddlers Cross is a two and a half mile hurdler.
MarkTT,
Peddlers Cross won over 2m 6f at Musselburgh staying on after being rousted up. I think he has every chance of staying 3m at Cheltenham.
However, I have to agree with Shack1 that he may be unlikely to reach the same level of form he showed between 2010 and 2011 and as a consequence may not be good enough. I hope i’m wrong!
Tidal Bay now out through injury.
Grandouet misses the Kingwell and heads straight to the CH.
Ground concerns rather than the ‘injury’ apparently.
I was a lot happier with my AP bet a week ago
Lee
Me also Lee. Definite concern that he goes there not only with an interrupted preparation but lack of race fitness too
Just watched Peddlers Cross at Musselburgh. He travelled and jumped really well but had to be rousted up to win. It looked to me as if he’d get further the way he ran on, however, for us AP voucher holders he looked a long way short of World Hurdle winner
