haydock is indeed a mess, the sooner it has its grade one betfair chase taken away the better.
i ment the horses rated 160 or above
will have to go some to beat sandown in the worst racecourse website of the year award
all the best for the future zorro i shall miss your columns. the racing post is so dumbed down these days, the saturday front page often resembles a comic(not to mention its childish bankers front page last week)
the race previews just consist of a load of trainer quotes cobbled together and often they say they have no space for 5 day entries but still fit in a sports betting pullout.with the last three winners of the ascot chase getting stuffed at the festival maybe the loss of bbc coverige and its constraints on dates etc will give ascot scope to move its top jumps race back a few weeks to perserve its prestige.
i cant see how the becher chase day can survive without being on tv ,so wonder what will happen to that as ch4 are not keen on sunday racing?
it tells you a lot about the mindset of the bbc when it happy to show the dumbed down shergar cup and not the ascot festival sunday and carrys on showing the welsh national just to keep the welsh happyare there any other courses apart from cheltenham that have their own radio station?
February 26, 2009 at 22:55 in reply to: Another "totesport.com Gold Cup Handicap Chase (Grade 3 #212498i enjoyed the fact that on saturday ruby walsh called the anniversay hurdle the glenlivet even though it hasent been know as that for 10 years
it must be numorous flat horses for me given the over the top way they hype horses up to try and be as popular as the jumpers ie: persian punch
they used to do a flat review video as well but stopped a few years ago through lack of interest i guess.
IRISH STAMP….cheltenham already have the 3mile bristol novices hurdle so would think haydock prestige novice hurdle is safe, though haydock did nick the rendelsham hurdle from kempton. talking of haydock il be interested to see if they move the betfair chase from haydock to a proper chase course that dosent have trolly fences and a hairpin home turn.
well said mr francome, it should be just the main meeting during cheltenham, grand national day and derby day. there are 7 meetings on derby day this year, what hope is there of the racing press having space to give the derby a proper build up when theyve got all that racing to fit in.
just as when blue splash collapsed and died in front of the stands on tingle creek day, it seemed to take ages for the vets to attend to the stricken pressgang at sandown yesterday. very sad and ruined the days racing for me
i go to about 25-30 of the top jump meetings half at cheltenham as im an annual member,go mainly to ascot, aintree, newbury ,kempton and sandown.
used to got to haydock but have vowed to myself never to go there again as the new chase track as a joke.newbury did of course stage diamond day for one year but half the usual diamond day crowd couldnt face going there.
folowing the news yesterday of prize money increses for the top flat races at ascot,i hope they left some money aside for frost covers?
guess this is the result of new managment there. cheltenham are now doing a season ticket for the best mate enclosure

wouldnt it be a great start to a doom laden 2009 if they could transfer the sandown card to cheltenham if needed. it looks like cheltenham will be on tomorrow after it survived a -7 frost to be raceable today after covering the whole course at the weekend.
i suspect that a ground braking move to transfer the sandown meeting is beyond the bha wooden tops but you never know.- AuthorPosts
