Well said Paul , the important thing here is to keep this momentum going , the jockey club are mostly well meaning but inept , bhb dont give a toss about races or punters , all they want is revenue
We should be thankful to you for at least placing the issue in the public domain , my fear is however that all will go quiet and racing will trundle on until the next crisis, the next exposee, or scandal
why not have prifessional stewards and face it now ??
Damn Paul you are forcing me to buy that awful paper again
#
Ricky
Pru , sound enough !! makes sense, however Zorro was merely starting the ball rolling : to get people to acknowledge that we have an ongoing problem
Somehow we have got to remove the set of chinless wonders , and replace by people who have smarts , who deal in real time as far as racing is concerned
Cost is always a factor (remember the stalls handlers)
but unless we have people who can deal with this cancer , we are lost
And please dont think a few ex policemen will be the answer as they dont have a clue
Lets get this issue out in the open and deal with it

Ok Jim , so we all wait for uncle Paul Scotney and his merry men , to win the day , and then John Maxe the mouthpiece of the jokers , will herald a new dawn …….
right!!!
respect da hippo :o
Time is running out (and so is my cash )
Ricky
gamble and Jilly , who was it that used to sing Oh Lord its hard to be humble when your perfect in every way !!!
  :cheesy:
Ricky
Jim . no offence or disrespect intended , but thats total garbage!!!
If something is corrupting our game, we should not adopt a put up with approach , thats just too tame, its defeatist and wrong
we have the right to try and put this cancer out of the game, and franlkly your comments are at best misguided
we need to cut the cancer out , not to ignore it
best regards
Ricky
Barry , a great question , deserves a great answer , but in truth i have not a clue
Most of them follow you anyway , although i am encouraged by bLUE SQUARE they are good as well
I was referring to exchange activity and races that were bent when it was obvious to all and sundry that certain horses were not trying an inch
Its a shame , but part of the game now is second guessing certain trainer / jockey combinations
Ricky

right on Barry , as far as being a bookie goes , you have served your time, and know the game no contest !!
But lets talk about the game , you stand at Leafy , but not southwell or wolves , but if you had to take a guess , how many races do u think were a bit strange between November and the end of March ???
would be very interested to know , I will declare my hand , I attended all of those meetings same as you (cricket tour excepted )
cheers
Ricky
Paul Scotney has gone a bit quiet !!
Richard
8500 races next yr , irts pure speculation how many of them will be suspect , but it is getting harder , to be fair to the Jokers , they are trying hard , chances are at least 8000 races will be straight
I am very doubtfull about banded racing ,and will make allowances for 500 races to be less than straightforward
Ricky
Think this is a depressing thread , we all back losers , and we lay some winners , what makes them memorable,or usefull , or indeed leess memorable and painful
I dont know :o
All I can tell you is occasionally you come across a chance to make a season worth while in one single stroke , like on Tues when I matched Croc Dundee in Goodwood at 72!!! as we know he failed by a head
I resisted the opportunity to back him for a place , as he was simply outstanding in the paddock
Do I remember it !!! was it a significant bet ???
most losses are glossed over , this one I will never forget !!
cheers
Ricky
GAMBLE , you are a national treasure , your posts are a treat ,
dont go just yet !!
ps my name has five letters as well , but might change it to Hippo in the near future as I seem to have grown a hump regarding banded racing
cheers
Ricky
what a wonderfull writer Gamble is , unlike poor Paul !!
I remember Paul Haigh well , he was my hero , attacked the bookies , melted Tommo and all his fellow syncopaths, predicted exchanges would have bookies offering loyalty Bonuses , stopped me frrom watching the dreaded morning line ,and Ch 4 in its entirety , and finally gave us the delights of the master punter,
Paul is gone now , writing drivel!!
Gamble you could help. it would be great to resurrect a fab talent
cheerio
Ricky
cLIVEX , a simple question , are u old enough to have seen Arlke RACE ?
iF YOUR not and have not , then I would reccomend keeping your trap shut !!!
For what its worth , I have seen both ,and in all sincerity i can say he was a stone better
For Petes sake why post drivel , the chasers around today would not have been good enough to compete in any of his Gold cup days
If you dont know ,why guess ??
Ricky
well said Ian , I accept your point entirely , and as someone who has criticised regional racing (RR) BEFORE it started , can I say I withdraw my remarks , it was fine !!!
ricky
Ian , thats probably being a bit harsh , after all every time you make a wining or losing bet you contribute in some way to the levy , but in truth our method of funding is all wrong .
Parasite is the wrong description
First impressions of regional racing is surprisingly good !!
cheers
ricky
Racing post website is very good , cannot believe it will be free for much longer"!!. but the paper at 1.30 is a rip off , put simply there is very little to read
I go racing 4/ 5 times a week , i used to buy it as a racecard , but got a printer and in truth I just use the web now
It is a very bad read !!!
ricky
Pricewise is now a joke . Mel C and Henry Rix were exceptional tipsters during their tenure with the racing post ,
The racing post is now an overpriced waste of space, David Ashforth apart is is awful !!
Avoid pricewise and stick to your own opinion
Ricky
Forgive my past indescretions!!! i used to be a huge fan of Nh WHEN it was a sport !!1
