Having attended the last 23 Gold Cups & a smattering of Champion Hurdles there is just nothing like it, a few years ago over a post match pint I said to some of the lads I go with that I couldn’t imagine a time when I wouldn’t go to the festival, there were a lot of sagely nods, thats just how it grabs you.

Richard Hoilies was in todays Racing Post saying that next years Punchestown Festival x-country is to be sponsored by TomTom!

As David Ashforth said in the following days Racing Post after the cross country at the Cheltenham Festival two years ago, "The cross country is a race where they go round & round until an Irish horse gets to the front, then they head for the winning line"
They are "Marmite" races, at the Festival I normally repair to the bar!
