Our horse Inaro (ex JP McManus/Jonjo O’Neill) won the Ladies’ at High Easter last weekend. He had a bad case of colic over XMAS but now seems close to being back to his best. We have every respect for jockey Gina Andrews who had a very heavy fall in the maiden two races earlier but jumped straight back on and gave him a cracking ride.

Zabenz won a point-to-point at Larkhill last weekend beating a good field and winning a whole £250 in the process. Let’s hope he get a run in the National!

The RP Ratings are presumably based on VPU and Braireus running to their official marks – 173 and 150. Which means that KS improved on his OR by 9lbs and AR by an impressive 22lbs…

RP rated Kauto Star at 184 for yesterday’s run – the same as he achieved in last year’s race. Looking at what he beat this year the rating at furst seems difficult to justify given that Albertas Run’s previous best was 160. RP are saying that ARs improved by 14 lbs…

My initial estimate was 176 for KS and 166 for AR.

However, the race was 10.1 secs (approx 40-50 lengths) faster than the Feltham which was won by Breedsbreeze with a best of 148 so you can see why they had to give Kauto such a high rating.

Well spotted PhilP although I don’t think he’ll be appearing anywhere in the near future, Johnson said he was badly injured at the last.

That’s a shame as he was pretty much perfect physically – the horse not RJ!

I hope they have good insurance cover £1/3M is a lot to lose.

I was at Huntingdon yesterday partly to see TGB in the flesh. He’s certainly a very good looking animal and for that reason alone gets plenty of support from casual punters – he started at around 7/4 at the course.

He didn’t run at all convincingly though he did make up a lot of ground on the leaders from 3 out – Richard Johnson had left him plenty to do.

He hit the last really hard – a splinter of wood flew at least 50 feet in the air – and slowed considerably after that. He did not appear in the winner’s enclosure afterwards so I assume he hurt himself – hopefully not too badly.

I would think a return to the flat would be on the cards.
