Easy win. Time For Rupert ran better than i thought he would…
I don’t see Big Bucks losing, but my money’s on Sentry Duty
I had an odd dream last night…
They were turning for home and it was My Will and Mon Mome sharing the lead with Kauto a length back in third and Denman another length back in fourth. They jumped the second last and Kauto just crumbled to the ground. I wasn’t able to see the winner because i woke up, but the last thing i remember was My Will and Mon Mome pushing for home with Denman at a one pace in third…
I wouldn’t trust it, but i suppose because of that it wouldn’t hurt to put a pound each way on both

And now with Casey Jones being put down; looks like my hope Knowhere might still make the cut! Provided he isn’t too injured from today…
Ollie Magern is impressing me so much as of late. I know the numbers don’t seem too appealing, but look at the distances between him and the next 1 or 2. He was less than half a length from being fifth in the King George and the William Hill Trophy… he has to go on my shortlist.
I only heard that Casey Jones was put down, but Knowhere wasn’t…?
March 15, 2010 at 23:06 in reply to: Grand National ,worst horse and one who boxed above itself #282646Cerium last year – One of Fergus Wilson’s lot. Finished 5th at massive odds with a fractured skull.
Astonville – Another Wilson horse. 150-1 +, this former useful frenchhorse was 11 and had run in the Champion Hurdle AND the Gold Cup and been terrible in both. At pretty stupidly high weight he was in the Grand National and many claimed he was wasting a decent spot for someone else. However – as happens – the National brought the horse to live and he actually put in a great front line performance when sadly, whilst 4th, his jockey thought he had gone lame after a circuit as he changed his action. He was pulled up. Will never know how he would have gotten on!
Others for me – Merry People (200-1) – Coming upsides the leaders when fell 2nd last in 1999. Camelot Knight (was only ever good at Aintree). Hell Amberleigh House didn’t have a right to be any good did he? Wasn’t up to much elsewhere, and eventually got his win as a 12 year old running on like the horse version of Scurlogue Champ!
I will accept when people put down a Wilson owned horse (besides the awesome Back Bar), but i will not sit idley by while someone says Amberleigh House had no right to be good! Sure Aintree was where he shined, but to be able to jump those fences as many times as he did without fault (to my knowledge he jumped 245 of those big fences) surely puts him down as a good horse?
I meant in terms of
number
of classy horses. But please don’t hold back when you have a point to make. Makes me wonder how much you really mean what you say.

Sure Madison wouldn’t have added much, but he’s still a class act regardless of his record at the course.

Madison now out of the mix and going straight to Aintree according to Pipe… man this Gold Cup really is starting to slim in terms of class…
What are peoples view here on the Dessie Hughes pair (Black Apalachi & Vic Venturi )

Black Apalachi will win.
Vic Venturi might win.
I share your pain, Peter. I was on Knowhere yesterday as well.

I thought he was gonna take it jumping the last. The blinkers seem to work well with him.
He’s 70th in the handicap with Taranis being withdrawn, so him making the final 40 isn’t out of the question, but we’ll just have to wait and see…
Well, Knowhere certainly gave me reason to back him again. I know he’s stretching it with his handicap, but there were a lot of big weighted drop outs the other day and i expect that to happen again… i hope he can squeeze in, becuase although he did make a couple of errors on the way round yesterday; he still ran great and i like him.
Glad War of Attrition is sticking in there. Morris complained about Hear the Echo’s weight last year, but kept him in anyways, so maybe we’ll see the same this year…. hopefuly not exactly the same though

No sign of any cut offs?
Ruby Walsh about Snowy Mornings sunday run; "That was some Aintree prep"
Seems like he’s in good form heading to Aintree. And with a lot less weight on his back; he is a tempting offer.

Philson Run at 14 years old… wow
I haven’t had a chance to size this one up, but there were a couple of entries that intrigued me…
It’s gonna be a real battle for who’ll be leading the field.
You got Hello Bud, Black Apalachi, Our Vic, Ellerslie George and Ollie Magern all wanting to be taking up the running.
