    I have been following this post with interest but I have a question and please forgive my ignorance.

    Why does it have to be 8 runners?

    Are we talking about handicaps only? Then I could understand as that would be the minimum runners to achieve 1/4 odds on the 2nd favourite.

    Put me out of my misery somebody.
