What an awe-inspiring performance today-really has kick-started the season for me. <br>I agree that the way the horse was ridden certainly contributed to the performance even though I was worried through the early stages as I thought that he was there to be shot at.
I can remember the comments on here e.g. "Hawk Wing’s keeping a low profile" and "Maybe he’ll go for the Ebor" but he’s CERTAINLY silenced the doubters now.
Bring on Ascot……………..
Nore- First runner out of the Sun Alliance Hurdle tomorrow- Nil Desperandum in the Novice Hurdle(3.30) at Navan.
Also a decent chase at 4.30 featuring Go Roger Go,Rince Ri,Knife Edge and Moscow Express
I was very saddened to hear of Dorans Pride’s demise-Us NH fans have had to endure a lot over the last few years with the likes of Gloria Victis,One Man, Valiramix,Strong Promise and Bacchanal to name just a few.
I heard that the fatal injury was actually caused by the horses following on behind Doran’s when he fell rather than the fall itself which makes it more unfortunate.
This is probably the only part of the sport that I hate and that is why I treasure moments like the GC on Thurs as you just don’t know what is around the corner…….
I think that if Desert Orchid had of been suited by Cheltenham like he was Kempton and Sandown,he would have won at least another Gold Cup and possibly a Champion Chase as well.
He may have even won 3 Gold Cup’s to join Arkle because connections would have ran him in the Gold Cup earlier in his career,probably after his 86 King George win even
I found Best Mate,Iris’s Gift and Azertyuiop most impressive but I don’t think I can wait 8 months for Best Mate’s next run-I just need to hibernate until that day lol
I thought Iris’s Gift was so impressive especially as connections say that anything he does over hurdles is a bonus as chasing will be his real forte.
How do people think Baracouda will do if/when he goes chasing which he probably will now that JP knows for definite that First Gold is a shadow of his former self?????
