Just read the latest article about Punjabi.
Why not Sublimity?
Will probably run in the FF, the Xmas Hurdle@Kempton or Fairyhouse, the AIG, the Champion and then the Punchestown race.
Had a wind operation since his last run and could do well.
Looks like Binocular isnt going to run against Hurricane Fly and will reappear in The Bula.
Very impressive performance.
He has improved and if it wasnt for Katchit a few years ago would be be saying that the earliest age a horse can win a CH is 6? If thats the case, as Punjabi showed last year, then this is gives Binocular and Celestial Halo a great chance this season.
Previously people thought that Wincanton and tracks like that would suit the horse. However, after the performance on Saturday do we now think he is more versatile than we originally thought. If that is the case then could we see him go for the Million bonus?
I wasnt trying to make a comment about Andy Stewart. Ive never met him and have only ever seen from afar.
My point was more to do with whats happened with other owners previously. If a jockey gets off one of his horses loses the rides on the others! I also feel sorry for Tom Queally who has lost the ride on Fleeting Spirit in the Breeders Cup in favour of Frankie.
One thing is for sure if it wasnt for people like Andy Stewart the sport would be in a poorer shape.
I dont think we can underestimate the affect of the Kingwell Hurdle on Punjabis preparation.
At the time I thought it was strange incase it bottomed him for the Champ Hdl but maybe that made him work harder ahead of the Champion tilt. It is mentioned by Tony Staford on that link I posted earlier.
Binocular didnt run between the rearranged Bula andn the Champion. Maybe that along with the bad weather affected him for the big Tuesday in March. It looks like they are trying a different schedule with him this year with him apparently heading to Ireland in a couple of weeks, back for the race over Christmas and then Im not sure.
Will be interesting.

With the emergence of last years juveniles and questions over the top horses from last season I think this is the most interesting of all the championship divisions.
I backed him!
Couldnt believe the price of a horse whod finished 3rd the year before when getting hampered at a crucial point. I did back him the year before as well after his performance when 3rd in the Totegold Trophy and also in the Irish CHampion Hurdle at Punchestown.
He is a horse who owes me nothing and as he always seems overpriced it allows me to take advantage of what I consider to be extra value!
Ive backed him again for the Champion Hurdle after reading the article. If he was to win the FF his price would surely contract further.
I agree. He might not run up to his best at Cheltenham but as an owner I wish my horses didnt run up to form and finish in the places in two successive festivals!
Hopefully this season he has a perfect preparation and then we will know once and for all if he gets up the hill in a championship race!
Im always wary about backing any horse at Cheltenham who doesnt already have solid form there.
The sample size might be small but there have been examples of Montjeus who have been rated high over hurdles but not shown same form at Cheltenham.
Binocular has finished placed in a Supreme Novices and a Champion Hurdle so I think its unfair to say he doesnt act on the track.
As the bloke said on his article on http://www.wbxtriplecrown.com…Meanwhile Henderson’s apparent first choice Binocular also encountered inconvenience, as Lambourn was blanketed by snow at precisely the wrong time. Work on the grass was impossible, so a trip to Kempton where Binocular failed to impress the watching press brigade was the unsatisfactory solution.
So Binocular probably was a little short at Cheltenham, evidence A P McCoy’s less than usual energy between the last two. After the last, Binocular responded well, but could never get to the heroic Punjabi, or indeed equally brave Celestial Halo in an epic battle up the hill.
Maybe this is what stopped him winning last year and not that he doesnt act on the course!
I would be wary about Montjeu and their record at Cheltenham.
HF is undoubtedly very very good but maybe Cheltenham isnt his track.
I think Punjabi is under-rated. All the talk before and after the race was about Binocular.
If his horses are struggling because of fitness I can only think it could be the same reason Messrs King, Nicholls and Henderson have struggled for winners so far.
The weather has been so good in the West that they have been unable to gallop/school horses on the grass as its too quick.
I think this has been put down for a reason why some of the bigger yards have been struggling for winners.
Jonjo does ok when the ammunition allows. It just seems that a lot of JPs good ones now are sent elsewhere be it Henderson, Meade or remain with original trainer ie Karabak.
Will we see Sat navs on the hats for jockeys in the future?!
I think he comes back from his suspension just before the Fighting Fifth. Good timing for him!
What will Geraghty do?
Will he ride Zaynar or Punjabi in the Champion. If either were my horse Id want the same jockey on all season.
We could have a similar situation with Ruby Walsh on Celestial Halo or Hurricane Fly! And if Ruby chooses the Hurricane does he lose the ride on Big Bucks?!
I was being sarcastic! Sorry the sarcasm didnt come across in the mail!
Im sure they could both have run in the Triumph but as we saw last year with Crack Away Jack and Ashkazar there are some horses which benefit from time and a favourable handicap mark!
It does but then again I didnt mention Silk Affair or Ski Sunday who fought out the battle in the Fred Winter.
Its my thread and I only wanted to focus on the first six in each race!!
