This is my idea of the top 4: I did have doddie the great and Lucky place up near the top but Hendersons horses clearly not right so they drop out

Langer Dan Goes on soft/ GS, 2nd to GDS in martin pipe off 135. Won this last year off 141 tapped for toe round home bend but stayed on strongly. – off same mark here. non trier all season so primed for this. Reportedly bled after last run. only 8 yr old.

Western Fold Won nicely latest although 2nd clobbered one flight and still got back for 2nd after dropping back. Won easy tho and was a decent time. that was off 123 now off 133 in ireland and add 7 here to 140. goes on soft heavy and yeailding. 3rd to predators gold in bumper as well.

Shanbally Kid OK 8th in the DRF 3 miler. didnt quite see the race out. off 133 , off 134 here so fairly treated. Beat Montys Star (PU in potatoe race) in Maiden (now rated 139) 8th in potatoe race at fez- in the mix till fading before the last) jumped poorly on chase debut.

Beacon Edge Some smart back form but struggled off this mark in punchestown handicaps and may struggle still off 145, (claimer takes it down to 142) . 4th in stayers hurdles 2021. goes on soft, good and heavy

This is on the jockey club website- looks super scientific but no idea how accurate it is

Racing Post have finally removed the non entered/ non qualified.

Congrats bobby on massively beating the price on Chantry House

These are my top 4 after video form review – For a cheltenham handicap I don’t think its that deep a race really.

Icare Allen and Cleatus Poolaw will probably be bigger on the day. The other 2 seem a decent price still although bigger on the ticker so maybe best just waiting now till next week.

Icare Allen- summer 2023 – 4th in Galway hurdle, 3rd 2 days later off 133. 3rd in qualifier off 142, chicken wings up the run in. Goes on soft yielding & good, Not run since

Monmiral- Has a nice profile though never managed to break through at the top level. 2 wins on GS and 2 on Soft. reverting back to hurdles after poor chase career. got 4th in the chepstow qualifier and cud be bang on for this off a fair mark of 139. only entered here

Anna Burnina- Cromwell trained, won scots champ hurdle over 2 miles 2022 off 130. Qualified in 4th off 135. Off 140 here. Best on good / yielding ground. 9th in county hurdle last season off 138.

Cleatus Poolaw- Ran a nice race up in the van latest, stuck at it up the hill but always held for the win – didn’t really seem to want to win, wasn’t the deepest heat. Previously 2nd to Ballyburn, Daddy Long Legs although well beat, Irish mark of 130 is fair, raised to 139 for this. Also 2nd to The jukebox man in PTP. goes on yielding, soft and heavy. Unexposed and could land in the top 3.

Things can and will always change.

This year is the first Cheltenham festival I won’t be going to out of personnel choice rather than circumstance since 1994. I’m not that old but I get tired being on my feet all day at the festival. According to my fit bit it’s a 22 thousand step day, that’s a lot.

The crowds can be fun and add to the spectacle. But not the increasing groups who have zero interest in the racing and just want a party.

You can go to Dublin racing festival, pay less than Cheltenham entry, get a seat, enjoy a nice nice bar where you get to talk with people like you who want to chat about the racing, options, predictions and stories of past glories.you can also sit where the top trainers watch the racing (and are happy to chat with you).

In the main public enclosures they struggled this year with lack of trained bar staff and not enough toilet capacity.

Majority of folks I spoke to there aren’t going to the Cheltenham festival anymore due to crowds, access to facilities, prices etc

I don’t have the answers, but I reckon a focus on attracting racing enthusiasts and having a capacity that matches your facilities is a good recipie.

Shanagh Bob for me win at 9/1 – he may well be the same price or slightly bigger on the day but given connections happy to start at 9/1

Chigorin- 40/1 EW – think the run was very impressive

Both these have already been put up by others on the thread but hadn’t read those before doing my own video form review so good to know I’m not imagining things.
