I appreciate your thoughts Marlingford but I have watched racing for over 50yrs so I consider that I am pretty experienced at deciding when I think a jockey has made a poor choice & one that doesn’t benefit the horse, which in this case it didn’t. It had made an horrendous mistake I think at the 2nd last, after previous mistakes which must have taken their toll. Looking back on it’s racing history it was no world beater & in my honest opinion it was the fall of a tired horse which cost it’s life. As for the rest of the field I probably could comment that some of those should have been pulled up. In this instance it was the sad loss of this horse that was uppermost in my mind.
I’m sorry if you disagree with me, but I am entitled to my opinion as you are yours
If only Ryan Mania had pulled him up after some bad mistakes & dropping back, poor lad RIP 😥💔
I can never understand why jockeys persist when all chance has gone #livetofightanotherday
Oh how sad that he didn’t make it. I thought he had a problem on the brief view we had after his fall, I feared the worst RIP 💔
I feared the worst when I saw him in the race. I did post on here as I thought he had been lost. Nothing appeared so I hoped I was wrong. So I’m sad now to know that he was a fatality RIP🌹
Why oh why did they persist in running this poor horse whose odds in its previous 4 races had been 80/1, 50/1, 125/1 & 100/1. Sadly never to race again RIP Gladys Eva Jane you deserved better 😥
Aww this is a sad read, I’d followed Laurel in her races, partly due to my partner being a massive Laurel & Hardy fan. RIP LAUREL 🌹😥
So many horses dying when racing in Ireland. So many of them have no ability & should not be seen on a racecourse. I find reading about these poor animals quite sickening. These latest fatalities reflect how bad this situation is & surely the Irish Horse Racing board need to investigate before there are others who never make it back to their stable 😥
I follow Philip Kirby racing & can see that the horses are so well loved & cared for. I really feel for everybody such a sad loss RIP Misscarlett
I think along the same lines as you Moehat. I have followed horse racing for over 50yrs & recall many names. I realise only a small no are given forever retirement homes but I would like to believe that they have a kind & respectful end to their lives
Oh my goodness that is heartbreaking to read RIP Deodoro you did not deserve to be treated in such a cruel inhumane way 😥
Having watched the race why the hell did Jack Tudor feel it necessary to give the mare 2 cracks with the pro cush/whip when she had done her running & had fallen way behind 😡. At times I do question jockeys actions RIP Happy Helen 😥
Involved in the dreadful fall of Misti Nani, so very sad that both have died. There were 3 on the same day at Cartmel last week, tragic 😥
I so agree moehat, it has been a dreadful few weeks & I too find these tragedies hard to defend 😢
Totally agree with your sentiments Moehat. Others have said that he “wasn’t going”. So sad that the jockey didn’t have the sense to pull him up earlier than he did. I love horse racing & have done for more than 40yrs but sometimes decisions made by jockeys really make me want to give up RIP Sire du Berlais
My thoughts this morning were why oh why don’t they give this horse an honourable retirement. This makes me so sad RIP Sire Du Berlais 😢
I couldn’t agree more Ex RubyLight. I have watched that race a few times & it never looked comfortable poor horse 😥
You only have to look at the trainers record to know what quality horses she has. I despair that Kimifive at 9yrs was still racing, poor soul RIP
