Getting back to selections for discussion:

In the 455Nmkt I have a book of Artimino, Mutanaseb, and Salient.

In the 530 Nmkt I have Greek Envoy.

    IMP,

You remain, as ever, a remarkable intellect.

Subtlety is the garment of the wise.

    Well done and thank you!

    Cormack,

    You are a strange fellow.

After thinking that you had shoved the thread where the monkey hides its nuts, you now complain that its popularity is too complicated for you.

    GL,

Taking flat, hurdles, and chases seperately can you break them down for age?

    Boozer,

Great to see you are still writing out slips!

The way I now work when Kathology split Marsad and Peruvian Chief on 22-05-02 he put in an 86 if you disregard the first two; (not something I would necessarily recomend).

When kathology ran on the 31-05-02 he only faced opposition rated 63.

    The 5/2 was a gift. :)

    Hi GL,

If top v middle is 2:1, and top v bottom is 3:1, then surely middle v bottom has to be 1.5:1

    Hi Crock!

Besides the obvious arguments against win prize money and the ability rating (I always take Rooster Booster as a good example). Win prize money has to be questioned when you have striking anomalies like the Gold Cup and the Grand National.

I decided against Red Gala because of the weight it had to carry. To me the burden was such that I could not believe that he had been placed to win.

I had decided on Tropical Strait who ended up a non-runner. Did anyone else like the look of him?

    Greyhound (gato negro),

It is early days to be going into details. You have been racing long enough to be familiar with Sod’s Law!

One thing I have learned though is that good horses have ‘careers’.

410A Mutajarred is a faultless example of the classiest horse that has been placed to win.

    Lee,

    Thanks

    Arrowson,

    No forecasts!

In the end I had three win singles with more on Amarna. I had taken decent prices on the two outsiders but didn’t get my lay backs on them matched before the off. We don’t have broadband out here so I can only do lay backs in running for jumps races which allows me the time to complete!

If you understand that VDW’s three year old method is a way of spotting class in juveniles then it need not be confined to the exact method he outlines.

I have Amarna as the classiest horse placed to win in the race. It is a pity about the price.

Both Kinsya and Prince Of Thebes have the class to be competative, both look placed to win.

I’ve not yet decided how to bet this race as Amarna is going to be short and there are only three places even on the exchanges.
