There are people in this thread that don’t even bother/care about football, there are those that post wrong stats, there are those that aren’t even reading what I’m writing, there are those that only see one side of the argument, there are those that have probably never even been to a game in Scotland, there are those that are only in here to score points and attempt to gain a reaction from me well this is not the kind of debates about football that I’m interested in as I like to keep my football debates REAL, I’m afraid to say I’m not getting this at TRF these days so maybe the time is right to move on, I’ve said in recent times I’ve not liked the way TRF is going and I’m not pointing the finger at any one individual but I’m putting a lot into these debates and always trying to keep it real, I’ve always kept cool in doing so even though some people just can’t handle facts and just post to score points, I take my football seriously and I’m wasting my time in here. I very much doubt I’ll be back, I may have been here too long anyway and all good things come to an end. I’ll also be giving up my website at the end of the month so the time to call it a day seems to be right.
Good luck everyone and good luck to whoever wins the SPL and I hope some of you have learned something about football from these threads.
George, come on, think about it, you would like to watch nice football before winning anything? ofcourse if you can play nice football AND win something then that’s different but ask any team in the world what they’d like to do between playing nice football or just winning trophies I’d be surprised if they all didn’t want to win the trophies. (some teams never ever win anything).
Not many teams play good football and win trophies these days but if you do then thats a bonus, I didn’t hear anyone saying Man Utd played this "anti-football" nonsense against Barcelona in the first leg of their semi final.
It seems Rangers are the only team in world football that is being tagged as "anti-football", anti football doesn’t even exist but if it did how is it that the only team playing is Rangers? see what I’m getting at?
Messi started the anti football rubbish and the leeches have caught onto it, answer me this – what have Barcelona that super footballing side full of "stars" that play brilliant silky football won this season?
Rangers have played some great stuff in parts this season but I accept we’ve had to defend in other games – it’s all part of football, defending is part of the game, why should people moan about defending when some great Italian teams of the past perfected it?

Rangers played some fantastic football when beating Lyon 3-0 on their own patch but that is all forgotten about or rather no-one wants to give credit, we also beat Sporting Lisbon on their own back yard 2-0, Barcelona only failed to score in two european games this season one was against Man Utd, guess who the other team was. (Messi and his anti-football jibe in that game was cheap and he couldn’t take being marked out of the game).
Corm I’m beginning to think you are a closet Celtic fan, you seem to try and argue a case for them.
Good things should make the news as the world’s not all bad you know, it’s just the way it is as people like reading scandal – it sells papers.
I’m glad you admitted that you’d like to see Rangers punished as that tells me a lot and it was the answer I was looking for as for playing home matches behind closed doors? no chance why should we there is never any trouble at Ibrox.

david, it really sounds like you want Rangers to be punished, a minority of fans’ behaved in a way that has brought the club down and the majority of Rangers fans are annoyed to say the least by this, I know as I’m a member of the biggest Rangers forum on the internet and that’s all I’ve been reading for the past few days, Rangers are trying to get to the bottom of the problem and so are the fans but it doesn’t help when there are those that don’t know a lot about the situation (except for what is said in the press) wanting them punished. It wasn’t all doom and gloom as there were thousands of other Rangers fans that behaved impeccably but there is no reports on this, I ask myself why, probably because niceness doesn’t sell papers or make great news.
It looks like Rangers will escape UEFA sanctions because the incidents took place away from the stadium. What a joke.
david you sound very bitter, why is it a joke? it seems you would like to see Rangers punished, do you get off on things like this? there was no trouble inside the ground so the decision is correct, it has also been pointed out but no-one really wants to believe that there were casuals from certain english teams in amongst the Rangers fans too, now whether thats true or not I don’t know but one thing is for certain no-one wants to believe it as that would be too simple for the media.

they are probably lesser known that Red Star Belgrade (Crvena Zvezda), Stuttgart, Lyon, Barcelona, Panathinaikos, Werder Bremen, Sporting Lisbon & Fiorentina, only Rangers preliminary champions league opponents FK Zeta are lesser known that Zenit but that goes for nothing as they were the ones that eventually put us out, the rest failed.

Just to finsih this thread and making a point regarding wilsons comment, to those that have the knowledge Zenit St Petersburg were never a bunch of nobodys, we’ve known about them for a few years and also played them in a friendly last year when we fielded one of the worst Rangers sides that I can remember.
I wish people would do some research before posting, it would help.
Why would you want to start a thread of that nature and why are you looking for it now, has there not been enough badness said about Manchester or are you not happy enough that you can’t get those on here to add to your invisible thread? did you really start a topic or is it just wishful thinking?

Fair points lads and thanks Bulwark for a very good post I was hoping more in this thread would understand instead of trying to score points.
I’m still a bit saddened that we never really got around to talking about the football itself as to be honest I’m still on a bit of a high that we got to the final and I still maintain that things may have been different had we got the time to prepare properly.
Fair points there insomniac, there’s a big debate going on on the Rangers forum and most are blaming those few fans that made the trip to Manchester for mainly for a huge drinking binge as the main culprits, after all is said and done there weren’t really that many arrests and to be honest here it was our NINETEENTH game in europe this season and this was the only game that had trouble at it.
On one of your points about Scotland/English rivalry, out of all Scottish teams Rangers would be the team most associated with being pro England if you believe the media up here. I wonder if anyone could understand what the Russians were chanting
do you think they might have been chanting anti england slogans? who knows eh?the screen scenario had a lot to do with the behavior in Manchester but it can’t be all blamed on that, there were far too may fans that found it easy to travel down the road to Manchester, things may have been different had the final taken place in Holland.
My main point in this long thread was to hope that we would talk about the actual game itself but alas that appears to have went by the wayside as that part of the argument doesn’t appeal to anyone other than myself I suppose.
Not hurting whatsoever although you probably hope I am but how can I be hurting?, gutted we never won but that’s football and we move on, there will be many more trophies in the years ahead as well as defeats but we are still the worlds most successful club and we are bound to lose sometime.

all I’ve really seen in here is people from dublin and anti Rangers people so it is my duty to stick up for the club I love when fiction is posted on forums, this is not the only forum I post on.
I know some of you are laying the bait and teasing but when it comes to football and horse racing I try to speak seriously about both sports and if anyone is taking it as just fun well maybe it would be better if you didn’t add to the thread, we should be talking about football not incidents outside the game.
marb, I don’t cause trouble all I can do is try to get the reports as correct as I can by using facts, it’s others that are filled with hate that report what they want to believe, NO I repeat NO team in world football has angels as fans so there will be some trouble at high profile games for whatever the reason, Manchester and Uefa just couldn’t handle how big a fan base Rangers have, there are players playing in some premiership teams that are actually Rangers supporters at heart, I don’t condone trouble at any sport but why do those that are jealous of another teams success wish to post the dirt, let’s keep it to football talk but that’s a bit difficult because those few don’t want to say anything nice, it happens and we all get on with it, Rangers have apologised to all in manchester though I don’t see many wanting to report that do I?
I’m just trying to keep things right – facts will always win over fiction/lies, if people have a problem with the truth then that’s nothing to do with me.
I’m proud to be a Rangers man as is every Rangers fan but you will always get those that can’t handle defeats, drink and whatever else causes them to lose the plot.
