It’s hard to see Nepture Collonges winning, as this would probably need improvement from his current rating of 168. I have long had a soft spot for Fair Along and from just in the handicap this may just be his day.

Dream Alliance has not been retired and currently is an intended runner. However, he would not want fast ground and the forecast is not encouraging.

Saw the forum and the references to Hittite Glory.

Very happy memories, the Flying Childers that year was run on 13 September, which also happened to be my 13th birthday. My Dad used to put a small bet on for me on a Saturday and I had 10p on Hittite Glory. A £10 pick up for me in those days was a substantial amount. I still remember vividly how he came from last to first.

He stood at stud in the UK initially (and then Japan) and a few years later I started following his sons on the racecourse, in particular I remember a sprinter called Camisite, who was just below top class and Great Western who won the Derby trial at Epsom for John Dunlop. The one I missed was Saxon Farm winning the Triumph Hurdle.
