Lathom Hay 4:35Quarterly review — Running to stand still. ( A 2.5 month review would have been a good idea )
After 3 months it’s all square with the enemy. Having reached a peak of +15 the last few weeks have been a disaster mainly down to not putting enough effort in due to lack of time and laziness. Anyway a few stats below;
Overall: 10/66 S.R. 15%
Turf: 3/40 S.R. 7.5%
A.W. : 6/16 S.R. 37.5%
Irish: 1/10 S.R. 10%Avg price backed 12/1
Avg price winner 5/1E.W. bets 0/13
Fairly obvious conclusion that I should cut out the big priced ew selections as they just are showing no return.
As my username suggests I like the all weather and the old adage of concentrating on an area you enjoy would seem to ring true in the results. I probably should have done better with the Irish results, Guanabarra bay at 16’s last night the latest to win that I had put up on the thread previously.
Off on hols at the end of August so will tip away till then and maybe concentrate on the AW when I get back as the turf season starts to wind down.
Lozah ran well to finish 3rd after being slow away and should be up to winning soon. Back to where it all started, breaking even.

Curious is the only word you could use to describe the ride sharp operator got. +1
1pt win Lozah @ 15/2. 1500 Redcar. A poor run last time but had shown promise before that and stable is going well.
Sharp operator GP 1600 Nap
Johnny Barnes Newb 1350
Fleeting visit Rip 1605Circles, Very disappointed with Big Time on Saturday, he was too bad to be true……..and undecided whether or not I should just forget him now. Cue a bet on him next time out lol
Sorry VTC only seeing this now. Very disappointing run from big time alright. Had to drop him in from the draw but even allowing for that was a very flat run. I’ll give him another run or two.
I’ve had a lot on at work at home and haven’t been able to put the required effort in for the thread and that has been reflected in results. Missing Always dancing the other evening was a bit of a sickener having followed his progress for a while.
Was half thinking of packing it in but I should have a bit more time to concentrate on it now and don’t want to go out on a losing run so I’ll keep it going for a while even if it sometimes feels like your running to just stand still.
Kath’s boy seems to be better on the AW and I’m sure Mick Easterby will find a race for Neptune Star. +2
1 pt win @ 8/1 Sharp operator Gowran 1600 hopefully break on terms this time having lost all chance at the start last time.
No joy with big time. +4
1 pt win Kaths boy 1715 FL. Has been improving on the aw so hopefully can continue the upward trend on turf.
1 pt win Neptune Star 1750 Windsor. Has moved to Mick Easterby from Jeremy Gask and was better than his final position on last run.
Work interfering badly with my plans to become a millionaire through this thread!
No return from last 2 bets. +5
1 pt win Big time @ 12/1, 1620 Curragh I’m fairly certain there is a big hcap win in this horse I just hope the draw hasn’t scuppered his chance, decent 5lb claimer on board.
Big Time 1620 Curr NAP
Abe Lincoln 1355 York
Steady pace 1525 NewmBunbury ran a decent race having been dropped in from his wide draw but Fang was disappointing. +7
Swag 1840 Nott 1 pt win @ 8/1. Was well backed last time but didn’t build on encouraging seas debut at chelms. I’ll give him another spin.
Clever lady 1 pt win @ 14/1 16:45 Leic . A bit better than finishing pos lto from 4 lb out of hcap.

Remember Nerja 1705 NaasAlways Dancing ran ok and his day will come, the game was up before it even started for Bois D’ebenne having got loose for 5 mins but was still allowed to take her place. +9
Bunbury 19:30 CC, 1 pt win @ 12/1 . Normally runs with the choke out and gets 1st time pieces tomorrow. Could slip the field if ridden positively.
Fang 21:00 CC. Comeback run wasn’t too bad and if he can lead from a low draw definitely take some catching.
Muzaahim became the meat in a sandwich shortly after they jumped and probably isn’t a ride for an amateur. + 11
Bois D’ebenne 19:40 Cheps 1pt win @ 14/1. She has shown a bit of promise in her two hcaps too date, running on well having encountered traffic problems at Kempton last time, by Big Bad Bob I wouldn’t mind seeing a bit of juice in the ground.
Always dancing 20:30 Gowran Park 1pt win @ 6/1 . Caught the eye on her last run in a maiden and improved again when staying on from an unpromising position in her first hcap last week.
Word that there may have been some kind of physical altercation between Nicky Henderson and Nigel Twiston-Davies at Ascot.
I reckon the Twister would lay him out. But Nicholls would flatten both.
Who is the toughest trainer do you reckon?

What a vulgar post; could the moderators remove it please
When I read the opening post without my specs on I misread it as physical attraction.
Liam Browne and a certain octogenarian trainer on the Curragh certainly had an “old school” approach to discipline, very much a carrot and stick approach with no carrot involved.
Good stuff VTC, I might have to get over my aversion to the jumps and follow your fancies, though that might be the kiss of death for them! Well played.
Amazour ran a bit below par but Auspicion got a cracking ride from Mullen to land him in front on the line. +12
Muzaahim 17:15 Wolv 1pt win @ 8/1.
