Worth listening to: Ryan Moore, Richard Hughes, Tom Queally and Frankie Dettori
Not worth listening to: Jamie Spencer, William Buick and Jonny Murtagh
I’m a big fan of Frankie but he was out of order in that finish. Far worse than Fallon’s recent transgression and yet he gets just 10 days.
He also badly hampered Havant. If I was R L Moore I’d have been looking for him in the weighing room with fists clenched.
No fashion on Racing UK.
Only drawback is Lydia Hislop.
What’s religion got to do with it?
Certainly agree about Emma’s ex, although to be fair he seems to be riding better thsi season.
Think criticism of William Buick slightly harsh but he’s certainly not the genuius in the sadlle that the press and media suggest he is and he is a bloody awful pundit / interviewee.
Best 10 Flat jockey’s riding (regularly or otherwise) in England for me are:-
Ryan Moore
Frankie
Richard Hughes
Keiren `Crown Court’ Fallon
Paul Hanagan
Tom Queally
George Baker
Silvestre De Souza
Adrian Nicholls
Jonny MurtaghI cannot for the life of me understand why the BBC don’t make one of the useless BBC3 / 4 channels dedicated sports channels. Nothing worth watching on those channels so put something interesting on them.
I fully expected that, in the event of Zacinto staying in training as a 5 year old, he’d have been gelded before the beginning of this campaign.
Seems odd to just wish and hope and then belatedly contemplate what was inevitable all along.
Little to do with jockey (Hayley preferrable to JP Spencer in my view and a very good jockey anyhow) or attitude of trainer.
The filly just isn’t very good.
To be fair, just 1
………………. so far
The anticipation and build up to big races or one in which a favoured horse is competing;
The ecstacy of victory and the agony of defeat – equally addictive;
Pattern Flat racing
Extension is a nice horse with some very decent form. A Group 1 win is deserved and certainly doesn’t devalue the race in my opinion.
Worth more than Ryanair
Definitely not Mary Whitehouse, not unless the whip made the colts reveal their coltishness!
The Morning Line is an appalling programme. Full of self indulgent and self appointed experts who lack guile, humour and eloguence. Lucky is ok but the others are a waste of space.
Mind you, it could be worse. They might have employed the likes of Lydia Hislop, Luke Harvey, Richard Pittman and Zoe Bird. A nightmare scenario.
But you could easily make the opposite case; that in reaction to the smacks the horse ran off a straight course. Without said smacks, he might have stayed running in a straight line.
You probably could with some cases but this looked pretty clear, watch it again and listen to the commentator as well who gives an excellent description of what happened.
Coming into the straight, the horse more or less had the race won when given the office and you’d probably expect no whip use to be necessary but he started running about a bit and obviously the jockey was well prepared (apparently a bit of a quirky individual in the past) and you can clearly see the horse prick his ears at the second last and think about running out, would the jockey have been able to prevent it without a whip?
Thought it might be a bit of greeness by the horse who’s still very inexperienced over hurdles but he has been quirky in the past I seem to remember.Cheers.
Not looking to stoke the fire, just interested in a view frome someone with riding experience who saw the 4.30 just now at Towcester (of all places).
The winner, a 4 year old, but a winner last time out, went veering off course dramatically. The whip, far from keeping him straight, seemed to send him off a straight line as he felt the repeated smacks.
Probably tired but ………………..
Another excellent example of why the whip is essential, as could be clearly seen, the horse was looking to run out at the second last, without his whip use both could have been put through the rails and injured.
I’m just grateful people like McCririck are on the anti-whip brigade side, I’ve yet to see a bigger hypocrite in racing. He’s a hare coursing fan like the Towcester Clerk of the course, another hypocrite. But could you not easily make the opposite case? Namely, that in reaction to the smacks the horse ran off a straight course and that without said smacks, he might have stayed running in a straight line?
